Mother’s Day can be beautiful AND brutal.
Both things can exist at once.
Some people are celebrating amazing moms.
Some are grieving moms they lost.
Some are grieving moms they never really had to begin with.
And some of you are literally in counseling because of your mom. 😉
A lot of what hurts on days like this is the inner child in us still wanting comfort, safety, love, approval, or softness we didn’t fully receive.
That younger part of you still matters.
And grieving what you needed but didn’t get is valid.
If today feels complicated, you are not wrong for that.
You do not have to force gratitude for pain.
You do not have to pretend abandonment didn’t affect you.
And you are allowed to hold grief and healing at the same time.
To the people missing their mom, mourning the relationship they wish they had, or trying to become the kind of parent they never received — I’m thinking of you. Happy Mother’s Day.
