I’ve been very blessed in my doula career to never miss a birth due to overlap. I’ve only rarely gone from birth to birth. This weekend was my first back to back overnight. When the sun came up Saturday and I had a text “my water broke” I knew I was in a for a long day.
I got back to the hospital at 6:30 on Saturday. Labor moved along at a typical first time mom pace. Both mom and dad were able to make informed decisions about the care of their baby. Asked great questions and assessed pros and cons. She had the best team. Some of the best nurses I’ve ever worked with.
Mom was a ROCKSTAR. Just absolutely incredible. She was kind to everyone she met. Was positive and funny. She is such a natural mama. 🥹
Dad was not only a client but a family friend. I got a front row seat to see how well and much he loves his girls. He would move any Natural Resource for them. And it was evident.
When plans changed - they took it in stride. And I got to witness two lovely people who welcome there baby earth side in a way that were not planning for.
It was such a beautiful day. Such an honor. And I just loved every second of it.
Granted I was very tired. They took the title for my longest birth ever. 🏆 but I’m glad it was them!
Welcome sweet baby girl!! 7lbs 2oz (dad guessed her weight and proudly called out “Mary I was right on the nose!!”
