My winter + spring calendar is officially open!

I take a small number of clients each month so I can actually show up well for the families I serve — and these are my current openings.

Planning a hospital birth? Home birth? VBAC? Epidural at the first available opportunity? 😂 I’m here for all of it.

If you’re due January–May 2027 and have been thinking about doula support, send me a message or head to my website to chat.

24 days until my first half marathon.

At some point my “short runs” became 5–8 miles and I genuinely don’t know who I am anymore.

A few months ago, running 3 miles without stopping was a BIG deal.

Now I look at 5 miles on my schedule and think, oh good, an easy one.

Excuse me???

24 days until I have to run 13.1 miles on purpose.

Someone asked me Sunday, “Do you ever get overwhelmed?”

Nearly every day.

I post a lot of the things I’m doing—births, running, homeschooling, Young Adults, family life—and I think sometimes that can look like I’m balancing it all really well.

I’m not. 😑

I almost quit doula work this summer.

I had a stretch of hard births and started wondering if I was failing my clients. I know I don’t control outcomes. I know birth is unpredictable. But when I was the common denominator, it was hard not to ask myself if I was actually doing this well.

I almost walked away.

But I keep coming back to why I started. Birth is vulnerable. I want women to have a voice in the room. I want them to have someone steady when things feel uncertain. I still believe I’m supposed to be doing this.

We are blessed to have so many people we love and genuinely want to show up for. Being a pastor’s wife. Being a good friend. Being present with my husband and kids. Homeschooling. Keeping a toddler alive - she found a marble and tried to eat it the other day. I didn’t think we had marbles in the house.

So yes, I get overwhelmed.

I’m not posting this because I need sympathy. I actually really love my life.

I just don’t want the highlight reel to accidentally communicate that I’m effortlessly managing it.

I’m not.

I believe this is the life God has called me to right now. So I will keep showing up, and trust that there will be enough of me for what He’s actually asked me to do.

Maybe an unpopular opinion coming from someone who literally makes a living as a doula 🥴

Not everyone needs one.

I LOVE what I do. I believe good support can completely change the way someone experiences birth. But I don’t think you should hire a doula just because Instagram told you to, because your friend had one, or because you think it’s the only way to have a “good” birth.

And please don’t hire someone who makes you feel like you have something to prove.

Get the epidural. Don’t get the epidural. Plan the home birth. Schedule the induction. Change your mind halfway through.

I’m not the one giving birth. You are.

The right doula isn’t there to get you a certain outcome. She’s there because you trust her to walk into whatever happens next with you.

That’s the kind of support I want to be.

Okay, tell me: did you have a doula? Worth it or nah? 😂

Theeee most challenging part of training is finding the time to do it.

After a long weekend up north with our YA group I just wanted to sleep in but I had to get my next long run in. And then wash my hair. And then homeschool.

I’m forever grateful for the many who steps in and helps me do it all.

Second babies are funny because you’re not really a first-time mom anymore…

…but you can still feel like one.

You know what contractions feel like.
You know birth can be unpredictable.
You know how much you love that baby on the other side.

But this birth can still be completely different.

Different baby. Different labor. Different season of life. Different you.

And going from one child to two is a 100% increase in kids. That is no small thing. So if this feels hard, it is okay if it feels hard.

You do not need to prove anything because you’ve done this before.

You’re allowed to ask questions. Change your mind. Want an epidural. Want to go unmedicated. Need reassurance. Need someone to remind you that you actually can do this.

Second-time moms are some of my absolute favorite families to support. 🤍

Welcome baby girl!!
8lb 7lb of sweetness.

I LOVE a surprise gender!!! Nothing beats them.

I also love first time parents marveling at the wonder of birth. I love when moms get lost in labor land and have no sense of time. I love supportive dads.

I just love birth!!

So thankful for the opportunity to have a front row seat to LIFE!!

I love working at U of M. The drive is worth it. (Except for way home when I was tired enough to sleep on the floor 🤪) I love working with both midwives I got to see. And the nurses are ALWAYS top notch.

Congratulations to the sweet family. (Also second due date baby in a row!!

And we are off! Our first day of school! We are starting early and doing a slow roll out. We have lots of activities this year and taking extra days off so we are building our buffer. Plus when the weather beaks in May. None of us care about

Excited to have a 3rd and 5th grader this year!! We discussed different school options for this year (school or hybrid) and they both wanted to be home again. 🥹🥹
