For over 7 years, we’ve been sharing our Mind-Body-Grow Program in classrooms across Michigan - a 12-week curriculum designed to support both students and classroom teachers in building simple, practical emotional and mental well-being skills that can be carried into the classroom, home, and everyday life.

The program:

• Is trauma-responsive and rooted in safety, connection, and attunement practices that help meet the needs of each child.
• Recognizes emotional and mental well-being as skills that can be strengthened through practice and repetition.
• Is informed by attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, psychology, mindfulness, yoga, somatic experiencing, and child development.
• Aligns with the Michigan Department of Education’s Social & Emotional Learning competencies.

The Mind-Body-Grow Program includes both lower and upper elementary 12-week curricula, along with 12 companion newsletters that can be shared with parents and caregivers to help extend the learning beyond the classroom.

Participants in our 6-month Well-Bean Roots of Regulation Training receive access to the full Mind-Body-Grow curriculum as part of the experience - in addition to a 400+ page training manual filled with practices, activities, and tools that can be adapted for classrooms, therapy settings, groups, and home environments.

This work is about helping adults and youth build awareness, connection, regulation, and resilience together.

When it comes to raising teens, one of the most common habits we fall into as parents is giving advice. We do it because we care. Because we’ve lived longer, seen more, and want to spare our kids unnecessary pain. Because we want to fix what’s hard, or help them make the “right” choice. But in our well-meaning efforts to guide, we often miss what our kids are truly asking for, to be seen and heard…

Today I was in Ann Arbor helping my son move and popped into one of my favorite spots where I left behind a flyer for our next Roots of Regulation teacher training beginning September 2026.

As we prepare for this next cohort, we’ve started hanging flyers around town and in communities extending outward from Grand Rapids, hoping this work lands in the hands and hearts of the people who are meant to find it.

This training grows through community and connection, and we’d love support spreading the word. If you know of a space that might welcome a flyer - a yoga studio, coffee shop, wellness space, school, library, community board, or gathering place let us know. We’d be happy to drop one off or email a flyer you can share digitally too.

This really is collective work. 🌱

One of the reflection questions we asked participants at the end of our 6-month teacher training was:

Was there a part of the training that felt especially meaningful or impactful for you? Here are a few of the responses they shared…

“I loved every weekend together!”

“I left each weekend both wanting more time together and being absolutely full from learning and connecting.”

“The pace and mix of teaching styles really supported my learning!”

“I loved the balance - I appreciated learning conceptually (the science of well-being) and then opportunities to really embody and experience it!”

“Having guest speakers was a special treat. You could tell they were picked for a reason…they added to the training in such meaningful ways.”

Registration is open for our next cohort starting September 2026! Visit us @ https://www.wellbean.us/95-hour-teacher-training.html

In our therapy work with teens and families, conversations about social media come up often. Parents are trying to figure it out, teens have strong feelings about it, and it can easily become a source of tension.

One place to start is recognizing that technology use discussions aren’t something we can ignore, delay, or treat as a one-time conversation. It’s an ongoing process.

It asks for open dialogue, flexibility, boundary-setting, and a willingness to learn alongside our kids. And that staying engaged and walking with them through it, is one of the most supportive things we can offer as they grow up in a digital world.

Dr. Lisa Damour is one of our go-to voices for thoughtful guidance for parents, caregivers, and teens.

We were intentional at the close of our first training to gather both measurable outcomes and personal reflections, wanting to understand not only what shifted on paper, but how the experience was felt and lived.

We’ve opened registration for the next cohort starting this September!
