When Boogy was diagnosed, her entire team learned about our lives very quickly. They knew we had been living off grid on a remote ranch. We ate most everything from scratch, we used natural remedies. They understood my love for these things and the importance to me. I remember the first time her doctor explained some of the treatments we'd face. She said, something that can hopefully bring you comfort is the main chemo she will receive for all of treatment is derived from a flower. The Madagascar periwinkle. I did and still do love the thought of this. I know deep down it isn't some gentle, sweet, natural tincture I made for her from this beautiful flower but I know its one of the necessary evils she needs to fight this disease. I'm thankful for this beautiful flower for saving babies like mine.

I just seen a video that the incredibly talented Céline Dion made her return to stage. In honor of that, I want to share one of my favorite videos of Boogy as a 3 year old, belting one of her favorite songs. She sang this day and night, belting it from the depths of her soul!

Lumbar punctures are performed on children with leukemia to check for leukemic cells in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which surrounds the brain and spinal cord
