✨ Sometimes the greatest transformations happen in ways we never expect.

When people begin Yoga Teacher Training, they often come hoping to learn more about yoga, deepen their practice, or become a stronger version of themselves.

What unfolds is often something much deeper.

One of our recent graduates shared:

“Looking back, little did I know that it’s not just about becoming a better version of myself but rather accepting the parts of me that I have kept in the dark. Being patient and compassionate and allowing subtle changes to happen naturally.”

This is the heart of yoga.

Not striving to become someone else.
Not fixing what is broken.
But learning to meet ourselves with honesty, compassion, and acceptance.

We are so grateful to witness these journeys and to be part of a community where growth is supported, friendships are formed, and people discover strengths they never knew they had.

Thank you, Nosheen, for sharing your experience and for allowing us to be part of your path. ❤️

This Week’s Reflection with Sally

Yoga teaches us that asking for help is not weakness; it is self-awareness in action.

It is recognizing when we have reached the edge of what we can carry alone. It is surrendering the need to control every outcome and allowing ourselves to receive support.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna finds himself overwhelmed on the battlefield. Filled with doubt and uncertainty, he does not pretend to have all the answers. Instead, he turns to Krishna for guidance.

What unfolds is one of yoga’s most profound teachings: true strength is not found in control, ego, or isolation. It is found in trust, surrender, devotion, and self-understanding.

Arjuna’s power does not emerge when he hardens himself. It emerges when he becomes willing to listen, learn, and receive support.

Many of us were taught that strength means independence. That we should be able to handle everything on our own. But yoga offers a different perspective. It reminds us that strength can also look like softening. It can look like vulnerability. It can look like reaching out when we need help.

On the path of yoga, healing and growth are deeply interconnected. Both require honesty. Both require courage. And both are often supported by the wisdom, kindness, and presence of others.

What if asking for help wasn’t something to be ashamed of?

What if it was part of the practice?

🤍 Reflection: What is one area of your life where you might benefit from allowing yourself to receive a little more support?

Love,
Sally

There comes a point in life when we begin to ask different questions.

Who am I becoming?
What matters most now?
How do I move through change with grace rather than resistance?

Over the past few years, Sally has found herself navigating many of the transitions that come with midlife—shifting priorities, changing relationships, a changing body, questions about purpose, and a growing desire to live more authentically.

Through her yoga practice and personal journey, she discovered the importance of creating space to pause, listen inward, and reconnect with what truly matters.

That journey inspired The Threshold: Reclaiming Power in Midlife.

Join us for an afternoon of gentle movement, breathwork, reflection, journaling, and meditation designed to help you reconnect with your inner wisdom and embrace this season of life with greater strength, clarity, and compassion.

✨ No yoga experience necessary—just come as you are.

Modern life asks a lot of our nervous systems. Many of us move through our days breathing a little more shallowly, carrying more tension, and rarely giving ourselves the space to truly slow down.

This special afternoon with Gabriel Halpern offers an opportunity to pause, breathe deeply, move thoughtfully, and reconnect with the wisdom of the body.

Together, we’ll explore gentle yet powerful yoga, breathwork, and conversation designed to support the heart, lungs, and overall well-being. Gabriel will begin with a dharma talk, Aging Gracefully, followed by an all-levels practice focused on easeful breathing, releasing tension, and cultivating vitality from the inside out.

This workshop is open to all levels and is especially supportive for anyone looking to reduce stress, improve breathing, or simply feel more grounded and connected.

✨ Expect:
• Breathwork and yoga to support healthy breathing and relaxation
• Practices to help calm the nervous system
• Insightful teachings on aging with awareness and vitality
• A welcoming, accessible environment for all experience levels

Gabriel Halpern has been teaching yoga for over 55 years and is known for blending wisdom, warmth, science, and heart into his teachings.

This Week’s Reflection with Sally 🤍

Patience is often misunderstood as waiting quietly.

But maybe patience is something deeper.

Maybe patience is growing our capacity to stay present with discomfort without immediately trying to escape it, fix it, numb it, or rush past it.

I recently heard Pema Chödrön speak about patience in this way, and it stayed with me.

In yoga philosophy, tapas is often translated as discipline or inner fire, but it is also our willingness to stay present with what is difficult. To remain in the heat long enough to be transformed by it.

Not every uncomfortable moment needs to be solved. Sometimes it asks to be witnessed.

This reminds me of how we practice heart openers in asana. A soft, open heart requires a strong core. Openness is supported by steadiness.

Patience may be the same.

A soft heart… supported by the strength to remain. ✨

Where in your life are you being asked to soften and stay instead of rush through? 🤍

Love, Sally

To the upcoming and recent graduates stepping into the “real world” 🎓✨

There can be so much pressure to have it all figured out right away. To move fast. To choose the perfect path. To prove yourself immediately.

But yoga philosophy reminds us that life is not meant to be forced into certainty overnight.

One of the teachings of yoga is aparigraha — often translated as non-grasping. It invites us to loosen our grip on the need to control every outcome, compare ourselves to others, or cling to the idea that our worth is tied to achievement alone.

You will walk through doors you cannot fully see yet.
Some paths will feel clear. Others uncertain.
Not every next step will arrive with guarantees.

But sometimes wisdom comes from allowing life to unfold instead of trying to conquer it all at once.

“Traveler, there is no path. The path is made by walking.”
— Antonio Machado 🌿

The “real world” is not something you suddenly arrive in fully prepared for. It is something you grow through, one experience at a time.

You do not need to have your whole future mapped out to begin.

Congratulations to all the graduates in our community. We are cheering you on as you step into this next chapter. 🤍
