**Kidnap Victim Found Dead Despite Ransom Payment**
A tragic incident has shocked the community following the kidnapping and murder of **Babirye Lydia Sengendo**, a 52-year-old resident of Kigowa, Ntinda.
According to reports, Ms. Babirye was abducted, and her captors later contacted her family demanding a ransom of **UGX 19 million** (approximately **USD 5,000**) in exchange for her release. Her relatives and friends managed to raise and send nearly half of the demanded amount while they continued searching for the remaining balance.
Sadly, despite receiving part of the ransom, the kidnappers allegedly killed Ms. Babirye. Her body was later discovered in **Kiteredde Village, Kakiri Town Council, Wakiso District**.
This incident is reportedly the **second kidnapping and murder case within two weeks in the Entebbe area**, raising serious concerns about public safety. These disturbing cases require thorough investigations to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.
Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant, exercise caution while traveling, and promptly report any suspicious activity to security authorities. While investigations continue, it is important to avoid speculation and allow law enforcement agencies to establish all the facts surrounding these crimes.

# # # Police Investigate Kidnap and Murder of Babirye Lydia
Police are investigating the kidnapping and subsequent murder of **Babirye Lydia**, a 52-year-old resident of Kigowa, Ntinda.
On **4 June 2026**, a kidnapping case was reported at **Old Kampala Police Station** after the victim went missing. The suspects later contacted her relatives using her phone and demanded **UGX 19 million** as ransom for her release.
A joint security team immediately launched investigations, leading to the identification and arrest of key suspects connected to the case.
Through investigative leads, detectives linked **Kagga Shafiq** and **Ntege Abubakar** to the kidnapping. Ntege was subsequently arrested in **Nateete**.
During interrogation, Ntege led detectives to his residence in **Kiteredde Village, Kakiri Town Council, Wakiso District**, where the victim's body was recovered. The body was found in a decomposing state inside the suspect's house, wrapped in a mattress cover and tied with ropes.
Investigators also discovered a grave that had been dug within the compound, allegedly intended for burying the victim's body.
The crime scene was processed and documented, and the body was conveyed to **KCCA City Mortuary** for a postmortem examination.
**Kagga Shafiq** and **Ntege Abubakar** remain in police custody as investigations continue.
