A moment of silence for the addict who will pick up for the very first time tonight, not knowing what they are getting themselves into, and for the addict who will pick up for the very last time and never wake up. Addiction is a mental health issue that many people do not understand. A person does not choose to become addicted to a substance or to a certain behavior, rather it is a disease of the mind and more awareness should be raised to this problem that so many people suffer from. One thing to remember is not only the person addicted suffers; their loved ones and the community in which they reside are adversely impacted as well. There are resources and professionals available to assist those in need, and a person fighting this battle should never feel ashamed to ask for help.
FYI, the relapse and overdose rate has increased by 30% since March 2020. Mental health issues related to our lockdown and the pandemic are especially hard for people with depression.

We have to be more aware and stay open minded help those that need and want the help don’t judge them because they once were just like anyone one bad choice may or may not ruin their life so please at all costs be there for you loved ones and those you don’t know all we need sometimes is just one person to show they care and treat as a human being to save a life.
