Sun/ Mercury meets south node (Ketu) in Leo for this Full Moon Partial Lunar Eclipse thats happening in Aquarius on August 27-28th. The Full Moon with north node (Rahu) may influence a revisioned self image, a release of an old version of the self. This energy has been favorable for shadow work by confronting our fears and self sabotaging habits. Saturn, Aquarius' traditional ruler, travels retrograde in the deepest part of constellation Pisces in opposition with Venus in Virgo, guiding us to reexamine past relationship dynamics, spending habits, and issues around self love before moving forward. Venus Virgo energy creates a feeling of responsibility toward others, approval- seeking, and need for making sustainable improvements. Venus's motivations in Virgo are rooted in love & devotion. Saturn in aspect tests the bonds we have with what we love and desire, showing us what is reciprocated and what needs to be purged🔥

Uranus in Ta**us continues squaring the Solar/Lunar nodal axis, has been nudging us toward independence and breaking free from old conditioning. Uranus square applies pressure to align with the reality we find the most authentic. Mars in Gemini plays a supporting role to the lunar axis by exploring themes around bonds, secrets, and conflicting choices. Mars will reach the new moon eclipse point in October and in essence rehash the themes this cycle has brought to light. Both Venus and Mercury will move retrograde in October, while Pluto moves into motion again✨

The last lunar eclipse in #126 Saros cycle happened August 1, 2008 and one month after the US banking system bottomed out, bringing numerous world banks and financial institutions along with them. Intense themes around policies that primarily serve those already in authority, public manipulation, propaganda, and confusion seem to be common mundane theme between 2008 and the current lunar eclipse happening August 28, 2026🌟

Eclipse seasons have a reputation as powerful wildcards of sudden, unavoidable shifts that rearrange life without warning. Fated turns and different paths start to reveal themselves. For some, this eclipse brings emotional upheaval and a sense of instability. Others meet the pressure with unexpected grace. History suggests the coming months will continue unfolding this particular sequence of change. It will be worth watching closely!

There’s something powerful about remembering that the sky was meant to be seen with the naked eye. In the June Solstice issue of Sidereal Rising, Elif Mark brings us back to one of the oldest and most practical teachings in astrology: the true phases of the planets and stars ✨

She writes:

“Ancient cultures placed great importance on three main types of phases of the planets, and applied their high teachings to their lives. In Ancient Astrology, the three most powerful states of the planets and stars are: 1) becoming visible, 2) becoming invisible, and 3) station—not retrograde, station, and direct. Traditional concepts like cazimi (“in the heart of the Sun”) and combust (“getting burned”) yield inaccurate results unless they take altitude (the height of a planet above the horizon) and extinction (the dimming of planet/star light by the atmosphere) into consideration. In other words, whether a planet is strong, weak, or invisible depends on what you can actually see with the naked eye.”

“Principally, a planet becomes visible in the east, just before sunrise, or in the west, just after sunset. In accordance with one of these, we call the planet a “morning” or “evening star.” Ancient cultures like the Sumerians, Babylonians, and the people of ancient Kemet placed great importance on this visibility and timing; something later cultures forgot.”

“Ta**us is one of the oldest recognizable constellations, potentially dating as far back as 17,000 BCE, where it may have been depicted in the Hall of Bulls, in Lascaux, France. They also placed great importance on the male bovine’s ge****ls, which were not only sustenance but imbued with fertile power. To this day, many cultures employ the s*x organs of male animals in recipes, remedies, and talismans.”

The Full Moon joins Pluto in Capricorn this lunar cycle and is illuminated by the Sun with Jupiter in Cancer. The Sun moved into Cancer around July 20th aligning focus into themes around emotional connections, family, and relationships.

Throughout this transit we could find ourselves more sensitive than usual, protective, perhaps sharing secrets, or being led by what feels right versus what appears logical and grounded. The constellation Cancer has long been considered a gate to the underworld so themes around family, birth, death, and transitions come to light🦀♋️

Jupiter with the Sun influences inner knowing, working as the internal compass we use on the personal spiritual journey. Opposite Jupiter, the Moon peaking with Pluto highlights our need for internal examination, shadow work, and clarity around what we actually can control. This Full Moon involves reexamination of our personal power dynamics, how we use and abuse boundaries, and what kind of energy we’re projecting into the material world.

How we emotionally perceive our reality is also influenced by Mercury moving direct in Gemini and Saturn slipping into retrograde in Pisces, we’re given a chance to reexamine the harder lessons with more information and transparency. Saturn in hard aspect to Mercury, could be some tougher truths to swallow. Venus squaring Mars brings more attention to creative energies around wants and pursuits, in a way influencing our path forward with Mars in trine to North Node in Aquarius♒️

Overall this is an intense yet strangely optimistic lunar cycle that will lead us into the final eclipse series happening in the Leo/ Aquarius axis. The partial Solar Eclipse takes place August 12th followed by the Lunar Eclipse August 27th. We’ll find the seeds planted during this eclipse are future orientated, redirecting our Leo energy on the North Node in Aquarius. It should be another exciting cycle to follow🌟
