I know it’s been a while since we’ve posted, but our family has been trying to cope the best we can. It’s been a little over a year since we lost Landon, and somehow it still feels like yesterday. Every day, something reminds us of him—a thought, a saying, a memory that comes out of nowhere.
Yesterday, for me as his mom, it was something as simple as taking our youngest son to a musical. They asked us to take a family picture. The picture turned out beautiful, but it hit me in a way I wasn’t prepared for. All I could think about was how Landon wasn’t in it… and never will be. That reality broke my heart all over again.
Parents, please be present in your kids’ lives. It’s so easy to say, “We’ll talk tomorrow” or “I’ll handle it later,” but tomorrow is never promised. You never truly know what your child may be thinking or going through—whether it’s bullying, social media, or something they’re afraid to say out loud.
Our kids deserve the best version of us. Be there. Pay attention. Listen. Even the small moments matter more than we realize.
