"Healing doesn't mean that the impulse or the urge never pops up... it means that it doesn't get to write the story anymore."

Friends, as I'm pondering this morning and working to identify and name and release some patterns of my own...I stumbled across that thought and it seemed worth sharing in case anyone else needed to hear that too.

Whether it's old patterns, unhealthy behaviors, troublesome thoughts, addictions, or ruminations ... it can become easy to fixate on those things when they show up, especially in a moment of stress or overwhelm. We may even tend to get caught up in feeling that somehow we've failed or that we're backsliding because we thought we were "over that" ...

In reality, just the opposite may be true. In that moment, we've recognized the old habit/process and can now take the steps to examine it, then mitigate and heal what we've found...so our actions moving forward can look different than they did in the past.

So if you find yourself suddenly facing an old pattern that you thought you had outgrown... resist the urge to let it creep in and dictate your current behavior. Give yourself some credit for recognizing it, sit with it for a moment to see if you can identify where it's coming from, and make the conscious choice to act on the root factor rather than simply falling into the same old familiar route in your brain. 💜

Funny story from last weekend - we were thrift store shopping last weekend in a small town and came across a whole pile of metaphysical/tarot/witchy books 😱 So of course, we grabbed a few for the home library!

As we're checking out, the cashier with a bit of southern drawl looks at me and asks "Are you touched?" I had to laugh a little (because I'm familiar with both meanings of that expression) and responded with "Yes ma'am, I am." She said "I thought so! You can usually tell and you've got that look about you! I love that, good for you!"

It was definitely a sweet experience and comes with a fun bonus... turns out I already had one of those books and didn't realize it, so I'll be doing a giveaway here soon for the duplicate! 😂

So, I'll be the first to admit that I did not keep up with the card of the day like I had hoped 🤷‍♀️ but here we are with today's (and I'll just be transparent that it'll be an occasional thing versus a daily thing! 😂)

The five of swords carries an energy of celebrating your victory in the same breath that you also acknowledge your own loss (and perhaps your opponent's loss as well). This card reminds us that rarely does a conflict, battle, or disagreement come without a price. We are reminded that we do not have infinite energy to fight every battle that comes our way...so be mindful that you weigh those considerations before engaging.
