Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to attend a beautiful brunch surrounded by incredible birth and postpartum doulas. It was such an inspiring experience to connect, network, and gain valuable insight from others doing this important work.

A special thank you to Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Midlands for the Black Doula Project, and to TD Bank for helping create opportunities for so many moms and families to access doula support.

There is still so much important work ahead in maternal health, but experiences like this remind me that we are building something meaningful—and this is only the beginning 💎✨

~Honoring the women who paved the way for birth workers and mothers everywhere 💐

~Maude Callen (1898–1990): A nurse-midwife in Pineville, SC, who delivered over 600 babies and trained generations of other midwives. She was featured in a 1951 Life magazine photo essay, "Nurse Midwife".
