An old logging road has been cleared away to reopen another kind of highway— one that benefits mangroves, bonefish, tarpon, and the communities that depend on them.
Recently, restored tidal flow to West Gap Creek on Grand Bahama, helping reconnect a critical creek system that supports healthy mangroves, clean water, and thriving fisheries. These tidal creeks serve as vital habitat for bonefish and countless other species while helping protect coastlines from erosion and storm impacts.
As restoration efforts continue across the island, BTT is already looking ahead to its next project: restoring August Creek, one of the most important bonefish habitats in The Bahamas.
For years, we have partnered with BTT to advance science-based conservation and protect the waters we all love. This World Ocean Day, learn how you can support the restoration of August Creek at BTT.org/Bahamas-Creeks.
