Proper tick removal matters.

If you find a tick, removing it as soon as possible is one of the best ways to reduce your risk of tick-borne illness. Check out the graphic below for simple do's and don'ts to safely remove a tick.

After removing the tick, clean the bite area and monitor for symptoms such as a rash, fever, headache, fatigue, or muscle and joint aches. If symptoms develop, contact your healthcare provider.

A few minutes of prevention can make a difference. Help protect yourself and your family by taking a few simple precautions:

✔️ Wear long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes.
✔️ Use an EPA-registered insect repellent.
✔️ Avoid tall grass and brush.
✔️ Check yourself, children, and pets for ticks after being outdoors.
✔️ Shower soon after coming inside.

If you find a tick:
