🐾🦶Pup Wisdom & Mantra for the Day: One step at a time.

🐾 Tested out the 7:15 am dog walking shift this morning at the shelter. Eight pups out for their morning business meeting and grass in their toes. Success!

🩷 Here is Kali - she has a very beautiful gray-brindle type coat, sweet eyes, a gigantic face for lots of scratches and smooches down the road, and was a polite walking partner. 💕 Visit her & other characters at the Humane Society of Carroll County, Inc.

📝Note to future self: More than 4 hours of sleep and 1 cup of coffee is advisable. ☕️

💙 I commit to pausing through my day by placing my hand on my heart and taking three breaths to draw myself back to the present moment.

💙 I commit to reciting the Reiki precepts each morning and evening to set intention in the morning and reflect on my day in the evening.

💙 I commit to practicing hands on healing once a day. This could be as simple as resting your hands on your heart-space and breathing into your hara (low belly), and connecting with the Reiki energy within your being.

💙 I commit to being present with the animals in my life by slowing down, breathing with them and enjoying the gift of their presence.

We had an absolutely perfect afternoon exploring the Shoden "beginning teachings" of the Let Animals Lead® Method of Animal Reiki at Finding Hearts Farm yesterday!

We knew we were off to a great start when class began and I said, "Let's take a moment to arrive in this space together," and all of the horses came zipping up the hill right to us. They always know just what to do. The meditative system of Reiki invites us to rest, release, repair, remember and return to life with heart-mindful presence. Having horses walk with us makes the journey all the sweeter.

So, for this day, with a grateful heart, we say, "Thank you, thank you, thank you." 🩷

💙 Sweetie Pie here to remind us on this fine Friday that All is Well. 💙

Now, you might say, “But, the world is a mess” and have a lengthy list specifically outlining why All is absolutely not “well.”

Reiki practice reminds us again and again that despite what is happening, we have the choice to connect with our still point, our place of inner balance, peace & compassion and the radiant connection that flows through all living beings. This knowing is what keeps us spiritually supported, resilient, clear and calm at any time we choose. We can choose to be centered in the storm or choose to be swept away by it’s force.

💙Sweetie Pie is waiting for her new people at the Humane Society of Carroll County, Inc. We went for a sunshine walk last weekend. She was a bit uncertain but, true to her name, very sweet. Her owner of eight years passed away so she is on a new phase of her soul journey. Let’s wrap Sweetie Pie in positive thoughts & love while she waits for her new family to find her. 💙

•• Meet the Teacher ••

Hi. I’m Annie. In no particular order, I really love animals, Reiki meditation, coffee and books. I’m also an elementary school librarian and mostly a homebody. I am a teacher at heart and enjoy facilitating experiences for others to explore Reiki for Self-Care as well as how to embrace Reiki with animals. I’m really looking forward to this Saturday when I will be teaching the Level One Course in the Let Animals Lead Method®️ of Animal Reiki created by Kathleen Prasad. I have the best co-teachers there - the beautiful horses of Finding Farm in Frederick, Maryland.

I spend a lot of time studying & practicing Reiki so I can bring the best experiences to my students. There is always more to learn.

Reiki keeps me grounded, joyful, calm and grateful. Even when I find myself angry or straying from the path, it always helps me come back to my heart.

One more fun fact, on the rare occasions when an orieol passes through our farm, it takes my breath away.

I always feel like a kid on Christmas morning when I’m with horses - happy! With me is my perfect friend, Sweet Basil Brown.

The system of Reiki is a spiritual practice that invites people and animals to 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩 body & mind, 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 obstacles, 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙧 what needs mending, 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 authentic purpose and oneness and 𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 to daily life with mindful presence.

💜Close your eyes. Place one hand on your hara (low belly) and one one your heart. Take three slow breaths. Feel the breath of life fill your body and release it back into the universe. 💜

Small moments connecting our breath, our thought and our body gently bring us back to center, one breath at a time. "Just for today" really is as simple as one inhale and one exhale at a time.
