From the battlefield to the emergency department, Alex, MBA, BSN, RN, CPEN, EMT-P, career has always been grounded in service.
A former Army infantryman who served nearly a decade – including deployments to Iraq – Alex’s life changed after a combat injury ended his military career. What remained was his commitment to helping others.
Today, as ER Nurse Manager at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights, he leads with purpose. “As a manager, I get to serve the nurses who serve our patients. Leadership is a privilege.”
His path to healthcare became even more personal while caring for his wife with Type 1 diabetes — and during a critical moment that put his family’s resilience to the test. While working a night shift, Alex coached his 8-year-old daughter over FaceTime as she helped stabilize her mom during a severe hypoglycemic emergency.
That night, his daughter’s calm actions helped save two lives. Today, Alex still calls her his “little endocrinologist” — a reminder of the family, purpose and compassion that continue to guide his work each day.
