🍎 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐃𝐚𝐲 🍎

Teachers hold a special place in our hearts. Long after we've forgotten the assignments, tests and lessons, we remember the people who stood at the front of the classroom and helped shape who we would become.

I have fond memories of my own grade school teachers: Mrs. Donna Bishop in kindergarten; Mrs. Dale Linton in first grade; Mrs. Carolyn Lee in second; Mrs. Carolyn LaRue in third; Mrs. Joyce Higgs in fourth; Mrs. Bonita Pearson in fifth; and Mrs. Mae Myrick in sixth. From my time at Dover Elementary School. I love and appreciate each of them and the part they played in my life.

Mrs. Bishop and Mrs. Higgs, who were daughter and mother, have both since passed away. Years after sitting in Mrs. Higgs' fourth-grade classroom, while working in funeral service in Russellville, I had the privilege of caring for her husband, Virgil, when he died in 2010, and later preaching Mrs. Higgs' funeral when she passed away in February 2017. Mrs. Bishop passed away in 2023, several years after we had moved to Harrison. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫.

We also have a special retired teacher right here at 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐥. Mrs. Nellie Mills works with us part time after retiring from the Harrison School District following 𝟐𝟖 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞. We appreciate Mrs. Mills and her many years of dedication to the students of Harrison.

On World Teachers' Day, we honor Mrs. Mills, my teachers and 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲—𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭—𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞, 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.

It’s almost fair time, and once again, 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞!

This will be our 𝒔𝒊𝒙𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 having a booth at the Northwest Arkansas District Fair, and it has become something we look forward to every year. Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to visit with so many people, reconnect with familiar faces and make many new friends along the way.

We’ll be there throughout the fair visiting with folks and handing out helpful information and some Holt Memorial Chapel promotional items.

𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟕, 𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲, and the fair will be open from 𝟏𝟎:𝟑𝟎 𝐚.𝐦. 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝟗 𝐩.𝐦. We especially invite our area seniors to stop by, say hello and spend a few minutes with us.

For us, being part of the fair isn’t just about having a booth—it’s another opportunity to be out in the community we are privileged to serve.
