"The Power of Still: Isometric Training from Early Rehab to Peak Performance" explores the role of isometric training throughout the rehabilitation and sports performance continuum. Participants will learn how isometric contractions can be used not only for early-stage rehabilitation and pain management, but also to promote muscle hypertrophy, tendon adaptation, and explosive power. The session provides practical, evidence-based strategies for integrating isometric exercises into patient recovery programs, from initial rehabilitation through return-to-sport performance at the APTA Michigan conference in Kalamazoo.

This achievement represents years of advocacy and collaboration among physical therapists, state legislators, industry leaders, and professional organizations committed to improving access to care for Michiganders. APTA MI ANNUAL CONFERENCE SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT

Jessica Gibson, PT, DPT, OnCS, is a board-certified oncology physical therapist at Henry Ford Hospital specializing in cancer rehabilitation across acute and outpatient settings. She earned her DPT from University of Michigan–Flint and completed a Graduate Certificate in Oncology Rehabilitation at Oakland University. As Rehabilitation Research Coordinator, her work focuses on oncology rehabilitation, cancer-related fatigue, exercise interventions, prehabilitation, and improving functional outcomes throughout the cancer care continuum.

Jasmine Golden, PT, CLT, OnCS, is a board-certified oncology physical therapist and certified lymphedema therapist with more than 14 years of clinical experience in acute care and oncology rehabilitation. A graduate of University of Nottingham, she currently practices at Henry Ford Hospital while pursuing a Ph.D. in Human Movement Science at Oakland University.
