Hello!

My name is Arya Boris, and I am a doctoral candidate at Widener University in the Human Sexuality program. I am writing to invite you to be a part of my research.

You can do this by taking a survey. It is your choice if you take the survey. You do not have to finish the survey if you do not want to. You can ask an aid to help you answer the survey if you need it. The survey will take you between 10 and 20 minutes. You can take a break and come back to it at any time. All of your information will be anonymous. If you want, you can enter a raffle to win a $25 gift card as a thank you for filling out the survey.

My research looks at what sexuality education disabled people were taught before they became adults. I know that many Deaf people often do not use the word “disabled.” But the research studies how students who might get different information, just because teachers or parents think those students cannot do the same things as non-disabled and hearing people. If you are Deaf, I want your experience to be written down. I want you to be included with everyone else.

I will ask you what you remember learning about. Then you will tell me how helpful that information was to you. Also, you will tell me where else you learned about this information.

I am disabled. I am physically, psychologically, and cognitively disabled. I have had some of my disabilities since I was a child.
I do this research to see how disabled people feel about the sexuality education they got. Usually, disabled people do not get to tell people how they feel about what they are taught. I want to change that. I want to give all disabled people the chance to be a part of making learning better for disabled students.
You can be a part of this study if you are a disabled adult and became disabled before you turned 19. You must have grown up in the United States. You cannot have been homeschooled for more than half of your learning. You must be born in 1990 or later.

If you want to take the survey, you can access it through this link: https://widener.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8nUPgqgozKAgo1U?source=Other

If you have any questions about this study, you can contact me at [email protected]. You can also contact my faculty advisor, Dr. Pamela Lannutti, at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Arya Boris, M.E.d.

Come to see our upcoming play, Wonderland! A woman is lost in the house of mirrors of her mind. In fact, she is stuck there. One night, she tumbles through the looking glass to get unstuck. Through and through, a journey ensues: can she follow the path of whimsy and weirdness all the way back to herself?

The Yale Summer Cabaret is creating a summer where art and access intertwine. Every show in our season will have a baseline level of access through creatively integrated open captions. We will also have select performances with Audio Description and ASL Interpretation - opening the Cabaret space to a broader population.

Access Schedule:

August 14: Creatively Integrated Open Captions
August 15, 2pm and 8pm: Creatively Integrated Open Captions
August 20: Creatively Integrated Open Captions
August 21: Creatively Integrated Open Captions
August 22, 2pm: Creatively Integrated Open Captions, Audio Description
August 22, 8pm: Creatively Integrated Open Captions, ASL Interpretation
