“Su***de is a permanent solution
to temporary problems.”

Tomorrow is a special show.

The reason.
The purpose.
The inspiration.

The ✨E N T I R E✨ reason I started this podcast, because of Raymond.

The whole goal was for this to be a place to share stories of triumph and to talk about the things nobody wants to.

Tomorrow, we’re gonna talk about a beautiful boy that saved my life more times in his short life being his sister.

The story of a boy who came into the world fighting and left this world fighting.

His story matters.
His accomplishments matter.
His impact matters.
His absence now matters.

So pull up a seat! There will be lots of laughs & lots of tears, but as we said before— RAW authenticity is what the goal was from the beginning!

Thankful everyday I get to do this with my bestfriend as she has sat with me through all the ugly phases of grief that I’m still learning to navigate through.

The goal is to build a community that sees it’s okay to not be okay.

Have seat.
Pour a cup of coffee.
Saddle up for the chaos.
Be ready to hear a story of love and a pain I’ll never be able to explain.

Happy Labor Day. 🤍

Today was created to honor workers—and we absolutely should.

But here on The Controversial Couch, you already know we’re probably going to take it one step further. 🛋️

Because there is so much labor happening around us that nobody gets paid for.

It’s the mama who hasn’t mentally clocked out in years.

It’s the first responder whose shift ended hours ago, but whose mind is still sitting on the scene of that call.

It’s the caregiver running on fumes.

It’s the foster parent navigating appointments, courtrooms, caseworkers and goodbyes.

It’s the person working full-time and still wondering how they’re going to afford groceries.

It’s emotional labor. Mental labor. Physical labor. The work of caregiving, healing, surviving, advocating and simply keeping going when you’re exhausted.

So yes, today we celebrate the people who clock in every day.

But we’re also making a little room on the couch for the people doing work that will never appear on a paycheck.

We see you, too.

The ones people avoid at family dinners, in break rooms, and behind closed doors—the ones without easy answers or neat endings.

So we made a place for them.

What started as conversations between two paramedics, two friends, and two women who have seen some s**t and have a LOT to say about it… somehow became a podcast. 😂

We’ll talk about mental health, motherhood, su***de, grief, foster care, first responders, healthcare, the justice system, and probably a few topics that’ll have somebody saying, “Well, I disagree.” 👀

Good. That’s kind of the point.

We don’t have every answer, and we won’t always agree with each other. 😂 But we’re here to make room for honest stories, uncomfortable questions, different perspectives, and conversations that help people feel less alone.

So pull up a seat. Bring your questions, experiences, and perspective.

We’re talking about the things people think about but don’t always say out loud — the funny, the uncomfortable, the controversial, the heavy, and everything in between.

No perfect scripts. No pretending we have it all figured out. Just two women, one couch, and a LOT of opinions. 😂

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. 🩵💜

But I don’t want this to be one of those posts we make because it’s September and then forget about it when October gets here.

I want us to actually keep talking about this. All year. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Even when we don’t know what to say.

Because there are people right now who are hurting and nobody knows.

They’re going to work. They’re laughing. Making jokes. Answering texts. Taking care of everybody else. Saying “I’m fine” because it’s easier than trying to explain what’s really going on.

So check on your people. And I mean REALLY check on them.

Ask again when they say they’re fine. Call them. Sit beside them. Sit in the silence if that’s all you can do. You don’t always have to have the right words. Sometimes just being there matters more than anything you could say.

And don’t only check on the person who looks like they’re falling apart. Check on the person who seems like they have it all together, too.

And if you’re reading this and you’re the one who’s struggling…

please stay.

I know sometimes “it gets better” probably doesn’t feel believable when you’re in the middle of it. You might not believe it right now. That’s okay.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just make it through today. Then tomorrow. Then the next day.

I’m really glad you’re here.

And I hope you stay long enough to see just how different your life can look from the place you’re in right now. 🖤

Next month starts the beginning of Su***de Awareness Month.

It’s a hard topic. A hard concept. And an even harder thing to accept when it happens at your front door.

Most times we forget to share the stories of our loved ones we’ve lost to the unthinkable.

How they moved.
How they spoke.
How they broke generational curses.
How they made every part of someone’s day a little brighter.

Not only this month will be sharing a series on “Why I stayed”, but we will also be sharing the stories of the ones that we’ve lost battling demons we never knew about.

We’re asking our people to come forward! Share a story of triumphs and how life has been for you since you decided to give life another try!

But we’d love for you to get on board and share a story about your loved one if you’ve lost them to the unthinkable. We want to hear all the moments that made your person so special, because that is how we keep them alive, saying their names, telling their stories.

Loving them doesn’t change, there just isn’t a place to put that love this side of heaven anymore, so tell us! Let’s shine light on the topics.

We’re all here for a purpose. A plan. A story to unfold.

We’d love for you all to advocate with us and share the importance of bringing awareness to something that has taken so many people in the silence.

Be apart of breaking that silence.
Be a voice.
A shoulder.
A decent human.

We’re excited to get some things rolling out this month for you all that have patiently waited and we are forever thankful for the support.
