Did you read this and think “I know that person!”?
The flying monkey is usually the best friend or close relative of the narcissist. It’s a person who thinks they are being “noble” and “not judging” who enables the narcissistic behaviors.
Example: I’m friends with xx. I don’t judge them. I love people where they are.
This equates to: I stand in silence listening to the stories of xx without speaking out against the behaviors that I don’t agree with, thus enabling xx to believe I support their ways.
The flying monkey is usually a person who
Has been judged harshly or hurt by others and feel they are being noble by ignoring the red flags others present and not speaking out.
Please remember that silence speaks volumes.
A narcissistic person will always have a minimum of one flying monkeys. Usually no more than 2-3, as most narcissists do not keep friendships that do not suit their ways.
Are you a flying monkey?
