Hardest part of play therapy is sometimes explaining to adults how what they see as “just playing” is deeply healing. We have come to be data driven sometimes and almost expect task, but kids do not excel this way- and honestly do adults? It’s safety, relationships, proving support and resources if needed, and silent work done in sessions that can have the highest value.

May is Maternal Mental Health Month, and we're Connecting the Dots for Maternal Mental Health 🔵

1 in 5 parents will experience a perinatal mental health disorder (PMHD) during or after pregnancy. PMHDs
are the #1 complication of childbirth. And yet...most parents navigate it in silence.

That silence is what we’re here to break.

This May, Postpartum Support International and The Blue Dot Project are sharing the statistics, stories, support, and solidarity about perinatal mental health disorders so that every parent knows they are not alone, they are not to blame, and with help, they WILL be well.

This crucial, voluntary program provides our local first responders across Ellis County (Hays PD, Ellis County Sheriff, etc.) with critical, pre-shared information about residents who have special needs, ensuring a more informed, effective, and compassionate response during emergencies.

Who should enroll? Individuals across Ellis County with:
• Developmental, intellectual, or physical disabilities.
• Conditions like Alzheimer's or dementia.
• Autism spectrum disorders or mental health challenges.
• Unique communication needs.

Your information is confidential and securely shared only with authorized emergency personnel during a relevant incident. Enrollment includes the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Hays PD, Ellis PD, Victoria PD, and FHSU PD.
