As I get closer to 30, I feel the need to recognize and appreciate the lessons my 20’s have brought me. Especially in the last few years.

I spent the first half of my 20’s feeling overwhelmed and behind all at once. I didn’t feel comfortable with myself and I focused too much on things I couldn’t control. Now, I am really trying to be mindful of the things I tell myself, how I show up for myself, and how I treat the world around me. That’s in my control.

Some of these lessons I’m still learning. I believe them with my whole heart but we all know sometimes that little voice in your head telling you otherwise likes to linger. Which is why I’m posting this! To remind myself & others of the important discoveries that come with time and growth.

Here’s to getting older and wiser 💖

If you asked 8 year old Meg where she’d be in 20 years I promise you she would never guess this.

The Hilary Duff concert was so so healing and wonderful and nostalgic. It brought up a lot of feelings from my childhood because she was my very first concert but I ended up leaving part way through because of my anxiety. That kid version of me didn’t know what mental health was, or how to deal with such big feelings. She was just scared and disappointed that she couldn’t stay to see her idol perform.

Fast forward 20 years and here I am back at a Hilary Duff concert with tears in my eyes, joy running through my veins, and so much love in my heart.

The funny part is, halfway through the concert someone behind us threw up. Which if you know me is like my worst fear ever. Cue instant anxiety 🤪 but this time instead of fleeing right away I sat with the discomfort for a few minutes and ultimately decided to advocate for myself and ask to move. I didn’t leave, I didn’t let it ruin the rest of my night. I moved on and got to see the whole damn thing.

I couldn’t help but think of that little girl throughout the night. It felt like I was giving her a big hug and showing her it’s going to be okay. This is truly what dreams are made of 🫶🏻💖

Forced to remember that mental illness doesn’t care if you’re thriving!

I’ve been so so good lately and genuinely happy with my life but today was a bad day and I had a panic attack at work which hasn’t happened in a long time.

I know it’s partially because of hormones and that getting my period can make my brain work extra hard against me at times. I’m hoping it’s a temporary feeling, but I wanted to acknowledge it anyways because I think it’s important to show that even though I’m doing great in my personal life, mental illness is still there and will still show up when you least expect it to.

So here’s my gentle reminder that you can be doing well and still have a bad day. And thats okay.

I left work early, had a big cry and am trying to give myself grace because I feel discouraged that this happened when I was doing so well. BUT, I know that one bad day doesn’t take away from all the good ones so I’m gonna spend the rest of my evening taking care of myself and we’ll try again tomorrow 🫶🏻

Went on a spontaneous 7+ hour road trip to Pennsylvania to see Niall Horan & Thomas Rhett and ended up having the best weekend ever!

This is something that’s pretty out of my comfort zone for so many reasons but I did it and I’m so so glad I didn’t let my anxiety and fears ruin this for me 💞🫶🏻

Lately I’ve been super into affirmations! In my previous relationship I would always say my love language was words of affirmation and I often felt like my needs weren’t met in that way so I started doing it for myself. The post it notes on my mirror have been with me through a breakup, moving, graduating, applying to grad school, and continue to motivate me today.

I created this post because I want you to take a minute out of your day and say these things to yourself. Believe them. Feel them. Trust them. I’ve noticed such a difference in my self worth and overall outlook on myself and my happiness from doing this consistently.

Feel free to comment your own affirmations that make you feel good! I’d love to hear them 🫶🏻💞

Fun update! I sliced my finger open today while cleaning a knife and had to get three stitches :):):):)

As someone who HATES hospitals and medical related things, this one got me going today.

I was super anxious and not even because my finger was sliced open but because of how my body was reacting to it. I was clammy and nauseous and lightheaded which are all classic anxiety symptoms for me so my brain was working overtime trying to figure out if I was in danger.

Luckily, I wasn’t and I was able to mostly calm myself down. I got the stitches by myself and walked out laughing thinking about how I probably talked that med students ear off while he was trying to work.

All in all, I shall never do a dish again and I’m proud of myself for handling it 🫶🏻💖
(Also wishing I had my nails done for this)

Oh look! It’s Meg with ANOTHER sunset pic 🤪

For real though, it’s actually wild how happy a sunset makes me and how good it is for my mental health to intentionally drive out to the country to see it. Thank God for summer 🥰
