If you’ve heard me say ā€œstrength trainā€ about a million times, here’s the science to back it up. šŸ˜‰

Especially during and after menopause, lifting isn’t just about muscle and bone—it can also support cardiovascular health, strength, and long-term function.

The goal isn’t cardio OR weights. It’s both. šŸ’Ŗā¤ļø

Healthcare should feel personal, proactive, and rooted in actually understanding you. šŸ¤

Looking beyond symptoms, asking better questions, and using deeper data to help guide the bigger picture - that’s the kind of care that feels different.

🧠 Your brain wants to be challenged - not just entertained.

Research suggests that activities like puzzles, chess, cards, writing, taking educational classes, and learning new skills may be associated with a lower risk of dementia.

The takeaway? Keep learning. Keep creating. Keep your brain engaged. ✨

Brain health is something we can support throughout every stage of life.

What if we didn’t wait for blood sugar to become abnormal before we started paying attention to metabolic health? šŸ¤

There is so much we can learn by looking at the bigger picture - understanding insulin resistance, metabolic health, and risk factors before they become a diagnosis.

Prevention is about being proactive, not fearful. The goal is to understand your body earlier so we can support it well. ✨

The start of a new school year is the perfect opportunity to reset healthy habits - not strive for perfection.

Small, consistent changes can make a meaningful difference in your child’s energy, focus, sleep, and overall well-being.

āœ”ļø Better sleep
āœ”ļø More protein
āœ”ļø Plenty of water
āœ”ļø Balanced snacks
āœ”ļø Less screen time before bed
āœ”ļø A properly fitted backpack

A patient recently came back with an APOE3/APOE4 genotype, which can be associated with a higher risk for cognitive decline and dementia.

But here’s what I want you to know: genetic risk is not the same thing as genetic destiny.

This is where comprehensive testing and prevention become so important.

Depending on your individual risk factors, we can look at things like:
🧠 APOE genotype
🩸 Cardiometabolic health
šŸ”„ Inflammation
ā¤ļø Lipids and cardiovascular risk
🧬 Nutrient status and other relevant biomarkers
😓 Sleep, stress, exercise and lifestyle factors

The goal isn’t to scare you with a genetic result. It’s to identify modifiable risk factors early and create a plan to support long-term brain health.

You can’t change your genes, but you can often change the environment those genes are operating in.

Would you want to know your APOE status?

08/11/2026

Your genetics can provide important clues about your future brain health and one gene we often look at is APOE.

APOE comes in different variants (or markers): APOE2, APOE3, and APOE4. While APOE3 is the most common, APOE4 is associated with an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Having one APOE4 copy can increase risk, and having two APOE4 copies (one inherited from each parent) is associated with a significantly higher risk compared to those without APOE4.

But knowing your risk isn’t about fear - it’s about being empowered. 🧠

Your genes are not your destiny. Lifestyle factors like nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, metabolic health, and addressing inflammation all play important roles in supporting brain health.

The goal is to be proactive, not reactive.

Would you want to know your genetic risk so you could take action earlier?

ā€œYour thyroid is normal.ā€
But you still don’t feel normal?

There may be more to uncover. šŸ¦‹

The thyroid doesn’t operate alone. It communicates with your hormones, immune system, metabolism, and even other lab markers.

When evaluating thyroid health, it’s important to look at:
šŸ” More than one thyroid marker
šŸ” Nutrient status that supports thyroid function
šŸ” Antibodies and immune activity
šŸ” The bigger picture of how your labs connect

The goal isn’t just to find a number that fits in a range - it’s to understand how your body is functioning as a whole.

What questions do you have about the thyroid?
