The DAISY Award recognizes nurses for the skill and compassion they show patients each day. The DAISY Foundation created the award in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 from ITP, an autoimmune disease. His family was so moved by the nursing care he received that they started this international award as a way to say thank you to nurses everywhere.

Weighing 8 pounds, 11.1 ounces and measuring 20 inches long, baby Adam Brockhoff was welcomed by Meagan and Brad Brockhoff and was delivered by Kristy Selland, CNM at Amberwell Hiawatha.

Every family's birth story looks a little different, but the care behind it stays the same. Here's what the Clary family shared with us after welcoming their newest addition at Amberwell Hiawatha:

"Julia really went the extra mile to make our room feel like home away from home. She decorated the space with pink bows and was so warm to us, making us feel very cared for.

We also want to give a shout out to Alex. It was our first time working with her, even though this is our fourth baby born at Amberwell Hiawatha. She kept our room extremely tidy and even helped me take care of myself in a way that was so kind, even during vulnerable moments.

Overall, all of the nurses did a great job helping us and making sure our space was clean, we were cared for, and everything went smoothly. This is the best place to have a baby. From the amazing physicians, like Dr. Jarvis, to the best OB care around, we wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you so much!"

When our community is in need, Hiawatha has always answered the call. Join us tomorrow, August 11th, from noon to 6pm at the Fisher Center to donate blood and save lives.

There is a critical blood shortage, and every donation has the power to help save lives. The blood you give could help a neighbor, a child, a trauma patient, or someone undergoing surgery.

Can we fill every appointment and show what this community is made of?
