When a cardiac arrest happens, immediate CPR can double or even triple the chances of survival. If you see a teen or adult collapse, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives.

Do you know where the closest AED is in your workplace, school, or church? Knowing where it is and how to use it can save a life.

Learn to spot the signs … the AED signs. An AED (which stands for automated external defibrillator) delivers a shock that can restart a heart in cardiac arrest. In public places, AEDs are usually found on a wall near an entrance or elevator. Look for AED in big, bold letters and the red heart with a lightning bolt through it.

If you see a teen or adult collapse, call 911, start CPR and send someone to find the AED. The instructions for how to use the device will be in the box.
