GLPs and breast cancer recurrence: the science is more interesting than you think.

For years, we’ve known that obesity, insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, and chronic inflammation are associated with poorer breast cancer outcomes.

Now, researchers are asking a compelling question: Could improving metabolic health influence recurrence risk?

Early observational research suggests an association between GLP use and improved outcomes in breast cancer survivors, including lower recurrence and mortality. But it’s important to be precise: these studies do not prove that GLP medications prevent cancer recurrence. Randomized clinical trials are still needed.

What makes the research particularly interesting is the biology. GLP medications can influence several interconnected systems:

◼️ Body composition: reducing excess adipose tissue, which is hormonally active
◼️ Insulin sensitivity: improving metabolic function and potentially reducing chronic hyperinsulinemia
◼️ Inflammation: addressing inflammatory signaling associated with metabolic dysfunction
◼️ Cellular biology: emerging research is exploring effects on metabolism, oxidative stress, immune signaling, and growth pathways

The takeaway isn’t that GLPs are a cancer treatment. It’s that metabolic health may be an underappreciated part of the cancer conversation.

At Raden Wellness, we believe the most meaningful questions often exist between specialties. Hormones, metabolism, inflammation, nutrition, cellular function, and longevity don’t operate independently.

The body is a system. So should be the way we care for it.

You can hit your protein goal every day and still not utilize those nutrients as efficiently as you think.

For athletes, frequent travelers, busy executives, and anyone placing high demands on their body, factors like stress, digestive function, and stomach acid can influence how well nutrients are broken down and absorbed.

IV infusions with amino acids take a different route.

By bypassing the digestive tract and delivering amino acids directly into the bloodstream, IV therapy provides the body with readily available building blocks for muscle repair, recovery, energy production, and other essential processes.

As Melanie Dorion, FNP-C, explains, it’s one reason amino acids can be a valuable part of a personalized recovery and performance strategy.

One patient described the difference after one of her IVs as: “It feels like cheating.” And, Melanie can attest to that.

When you’re asking more from your body, how you support recovery matters.

But, it’s really chic to trust your health journey to a team that actually shows up for it.

Not a clinic that rotates providers every visit. Not a menu you scroll through. Raden Wellness is a team, a family that knows your name, reads your labs before you sit down, and treats your care like it matters because it does.

Every part of Raden Wellness is built on the same idea: health starts with a team you can trust.

The scale may be the least interesting part of GLP research.

Researchers are continuing to study how GLP receptor agonists may relate to inflammatory signaling, metabolic health, insulin sensitivity, visceral fat, and cardiovascular risk markers.

That does not mean GLPs should be described as anti-inflammatory medications, or that every patient will experience the same response. The relationship is more complex, and many of the observed changes may be connected to improvements in weight, glucose regulation, body composition, and overall metabolic function.

This is why GLP care should look beyond pounds lost.

At Raden Wellness, we monitor the bigger picture with individualized treatment strategies, advanced testing, and ongoing clinical support.
