For the past 40 years, The Hoboken Family Planning Clinic has provided primary gynecological care and contraception to low-income underserved women. In 2013, Hurricane Sandy completely destroyed the clinic when fuel oil, raw sewage, dirt and other debris flooded its 124 Grand Street location. This deva
station occurred as the clinic was adjusting to state funding cuts which terminated much of its outreach capacity. Although the clinic was rebuilt, the funds have not been restored. Primary gynecological care and contraception to low income women of childbearing age
Cancer screenings; breast, cervical, prostrate
Screenings for chronic medical problems; diabetes and hypertension
STD & HIV awareness and screenings
Who is affected? At least 400 low income women per year in Hoboken
Unknown number of persons unable to access affordable, quality reproductive care. The clinic’s ability to reach these persons is deeply affected by funding cuts. Lapsed outreach to underserved community (10% of Hoboken’s population lives below the poverty line)
