**5 Common Signs Your animal May Have Ulcers**
Not all animals with gastric ulcers show dramatic symptoms. In fact, many horses quietly cope with discomfort for weeks or even months before the signs become obvious.
Here are 5 common signs that may indicate they are dealing with gastric ulcers:
1️⃣ **Changes in Attitude**
Suddenly seems grumpy, irritable, anxious, or less willing to work may be trying to tell you something.
2️⃣ **Decreased Performance**
Ulcers can affect comfort and energy levels, leading to reduced performance, reluctance to move forward, or difficulty maintaining focus.
3️⃣ **Weight Loss or Poor Body Condition**
Despite receiving adequate feed, some struggle to maintain weight when ulcers are present.
4️⃣ **Girthiness or Sensitivity When Tacking Up**
Pinning ears, biting, kicking, or showing discomfort during saddling may be linked to abdominal pain.
5️⃣ **Picky Eating or Reduced Appetite**
Some may eat slowly, leave grain behind, or seem less interested in feed than usual.
⚠️ It's important to remember that these signs can also be associated with other health concerns. If you suspect your horse may have ulcers, consult your veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment.
