There’s nothing quite like getting outside, feeling the breeze, and enjoying a summer evening on two—or three—wheels!

We love seeing these photos from the Adaptive Biking Program, offered in partnership with the STAR Center. Each Monday night, participants have the opportunity to get out, ride, and experience the freedom and fun of biking using equipment adapted to meet their individual needs. 🚲🌳

But these rides are about more than putting miles on the trail. They’re about independence, confidence, friendships, fresh air, and proving that adventure can look a little different for everyone.

A huge thank you to the STAR Center staff and volunteers who put so much time and energy into making these Monday night adventures possible. n.a.s.a. is proud to support a program that helps make outdoor recreation accessible to more members of our community. 🐿️💚

Judging by these photos, we’d say they’re having a wheelie good summer! 😄🚴

☀️🚤 Another Beautiful Day on Lake Onalaska! 🚤☀️

Some adventures are worth the drive!

Our volunteer captains, John and Susan Harter, recently welcomed a wonderful group of participants who traveled all the way from Eau Claire to spend the day exploring beautiful Lake Onalaska aboard one of n.a.s.a.'s accessible pontoon boats.

It was the perfect day to relax on the water! Everyone enjoyed great music, good conversation, and breathtaking scenery as we cruised through the backwaters. Along the way, we were treated to some incredible wildlife—including a graceful heron along the shoreline and osprey peeking their heads out from a nest high above us. 🦅🌿

The smiles, laughter, and peaceful moments shared throughout the day are what our Pontoon Program is all about. Whether our guests travel across town or across the state, we're honored to help create experiences that bring people together and make the outdoors accessible for everyone.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers and to our guests from Eau Claire for making it another unforgettable day on the water!

🚤☀️ Another Beautiful Day on the Water! ☀️💚

Some of the best days are the ones filled with sunshine, great company, and a little time on Lake Onalaska.

Our volunteer captains, John and Susan Harter, recently had the pleasure of welcoming residents from Eagle Crest aboard for another n.a.s.a. pontoon adventure. As they cruised the backwaters, they watched seagulls floating on the water, spotted osprey soaring overhead and nesting nearby, admired the beautiful shoreline homes, and were even treated to the sight of a majestic bald eagle perched high in a tree. 🦅

One of the most meaningful moments of the day wasn't the wildlife—it was a conversation. Susan, a retired social worker, discovered that one of our guests had also spent her career in social work. The two shared stories, reflected on years of helping others, and enjoyed reminiscing about the meaningful work they had dedicated their lives to.

That's what makes our Pontoon Program so special. It's more than a boat ride. It's about building connections, sharing stories, enjoying nature, and creating moments that stay with you long after the boat returns to the dock.

Thank you to our incredible volunteers and to the residents and staff from Eagle Crest for another unforgettable day on the water.

🎣💚 Reeling in Smiles All Summer Long! 💚🎣
Our Trout Pond Fishing events at Camp Decorah may be over for the year, but the smiles are still making waves!
From first-time catches to seasoned anglers, our participants enjoyed the peaceful setting at the Boy Scouts' Camp Decorah trout pond while sharing laughs, swapping stories, and celebrating every fish that found its way to the net. Whether young at heart or living with a disability, everyone had the opportunity to experience the excitement of fishing in a welcoming, accessible environment.
The biggest catches weren't always measured in inches—they were measured in smiles, friendships, confidence, and memories that will last a lifetime.
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers who baited hooks, untangled lines, celebrated every catch, and made sure each participant had a successful day on the water. We also extend our gratitude to Camp Decorah for providing such a beautiful location for this special program.
Thank you to everyone who joined us this season. Until next season... keep your lines tight, your stories slightly exaggerated, and remember—the best catch of the day is often the memories you bring home. 💚🐿️🎣 We can't wait to see you back at the pond next year for more fish stories, more laughter, and more unforgettable memories!

🚤 Another Great Day on the Water! ☀️
Every pontoon ride has its own story, and this one was filled with beautiful scenery, good music, great conversations, and plenty of smiles.
Our volunteer captains, John and Susan, had the pleasure of taking another wonderful group of community members out to enjoy the beauty of the Mississippi backwaters. From spotting wildlife to simply relaxing with friends, it was a reminder that sometimes the best days are the simplest ones.
These outings are about so much more than a boat ride. They're about connecting with nature, enjoying time together, and creating memories that everyone deserves to experience.

🚤 Making Memories, One Boat Ride at a Time 💚
There's something special about a day on the water.
Our volunteer captains John and Susan recently had the pleasure of taking three community members on a relaxing pontoon ride through the Mississippi backwaters, complete with a little fishing along the way. One of our guests was kind enough to share these photos, while the other two preferred to stay behind the camera—and we're always happy to respect their privacy.
The highlight of the day? Our featured angler decided to use a piece of candy as bait... and it worked! 🍬🎣 While the fish may have been on the small side, the smiles, laughter, and excitement were absolutely priceless.
At n.a.s.a., we know it's never just about catching fish or taking a boat ride. It's about spending time outdoors, making connections, sharing a few laughs, and creating memories that last long after the boat returns to the dock.
These are the moments that remind us why we volunteer—and why we're so passionate about making the outdoors accessible to everyone.
