And yes… I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess “stay flat on your back” may have been next on the list 😅👀

Your birth team plays an incredibly important role, but pelvic floor prep? That’s my lane.

Holding your breath + pushing as hard as you can isn’t your only option. Your breath, pelvic floor, position, pressure management + your preferences matter too.

Current guidance supports individualized pushing techniques and freedom of position when appropriate.
You deserve to know your options BEFORE you’re in labor. 💜

Apparently we needed a Part 2 👀

One of the BIGGEST questions after my last post:
“Wait… you can do that with an epidural?!”

YES. An epidural does not automatically equal lying flat on your back for birth.

Depending on how your body responds, your medical needs + the support available, you may still have options for positioning including supported upright positions like this throne position. 👑

And as a pelvic floor PT, I LOVE getting moms thinking about this before labor.

✨ Different positions = different ways for your pelvis + pelvic floor to move
✨ You don’t automatically have to birth flat on your back
✨ Your epidural experience may look completely different from someone else’s
✨ Ask your team what positioning options they support before the big day
You have options. Know them. Talk about them. Practice them. 🤍
And we haven’t even gotten to the mirror yet... 👀

Follow for Part 3.

Pregnant + realizing you have way more birth options than you thought?!

this is the kind of birth support that makes me smile🤍

✨ Her breath never stopped moving.
✨ She was encouraged to stay connected to her body.
✨ A mirror helped her see what was happening instead of fearing it.
✨ Her care team worked with her - not against her.

To me, that’s birth prep.
Not memorizing the “perfect” breathing technique.
Not forcing a birth plan.

It’s understanding your body, supporting your nervous system, and having tools to respond to labor with confidence.

That’s exactly what we practice inside the Birth Prep Experience.
