June is recognized as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month, with June 27th specifically observed as National PTSD Awareness Day.

PTSD impacts about 1 out of every 20 adults in the U.S. in any given year. Often this affects individuals who have experienced:

- Military Service
- Sexual Violence
- Disastrous Events
- Serious accidents
- And other traumatic events

Spreading awareness helps break stigmas and allows those affected to receive the care they need. Effective care exists: find it at Compass of Hope.

Cultural expectations make it difficult for men to express vulnerability. Changing stigmas makes a difference.

June is Men’s Mental Health Month, meaning spreading awareness for the stigma surrounding men's mental health struggles. Pressure from society to hide emotions does not mean men do not have feelings. Phrases like “be a man” or “boys don't cry” reinforce expectations and can lead to dangerous consequences.

This Father’s Day, open the conversation. If your father, or any man in your life, is struggling, discuss a start for their healing journey today. Compass of Hope welcomes all into our non-judgmental space. Give us a call.
