This week we celebrate history in the making:
Eighteen students. Four years of dedication.

This moment was truly special for all of us at Sagis Podiatric Pathology.
From being there with the inaugural class as they stepped into their journey at their white coat ceremony, to four years later having the privilege to serve as a primary sponsor of the graduation reception alongside the Texas Podiatric Medical Association (TXPMA) TEXAS PODIATRIC MEDICAL FOUNDATION.

▶️ On May 2, 2026, the first class of the UTRGV School of Podiatric Medicine crossed the stage, becoming the first Doctor of Podiatric Medicine graduates in the state of Texas from its first and only state-funded school of podiatric medicine.

“As the first medicine program in Texas, the school grew alongside its students—step by step through their commitment. These graduates now carry forward not only years of study and service, but the responsibility to care, to lead with intention, and to reach communities where their work will make a lasting difference.” — UTRGV School of Podiatric Medicine

had the honor of celebrating these graduates at their inaugural graduation, surrounded by faculty, leadership, and fellow supporters, recognizing not only their achievement, but the journey, grit, and purpose that brought them there.

“This is just the beginning of your journey, and we are so excited to watch how you continue to grow and make your mark in this profession. Sgais is always here for you as a resource in any way you may need.” — Jeni Williams & Shawna Velasquez, Sagis Diagnostics

To the Class of 2026: Congratulations, doctors. 🥳

Join Sagis for a case-based podiatric dermatology webinar April 16 at 06:00 PM CT led by Tracey Vlahovic, DPM a nationally recognized expert in lower extremity dermatology.

"We'd like to extend a special thank-you to HCA Houston Healthcare West and HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood Podiatric Residency Programs for their collaboration and for allowing us to expand this session to all who wish to join." - Jeni Lynn Williams (Sr. Territory Manager & Director of Resident Education, Podiatry | Sagis)

Dermatologic conditions are frequently encountered in podiatric practice, yet many can be challenging to recognize and manage in the clinical setting. In this virtual educational session, Dr. Vlahovic will review common skin conditions affecting the lower extremity and highlight practical diagnostic clues that help guide accurate identification and treatment.

Key topics:
• Discuss the most common skin conditions seen in podiatric practice
• Explain the role of prescription and over-the-counter medications used in treatment
• Review key clinical clues and develop a practical plan to manage these conditions in everyday practice

It's always special when our Sagis Podiatric Pathology team hosts a workshop with Tracey Vlahovic, DPM at our Houston headquarters.

Medical students, hashtag , and practicing came together for an engaging, hands-on session focused on biopsy technique, clinical insight, and real-world application to support better care.

Bringing all levels of training and practice together through education is something we at Sagis Diagnostics pride ourselves on.

In this Sagis Podiatric Pathology Case Review, Bryan Markinson, DPM outlines a case of porocarcinoma and basal cell carcinoma identified in separate digits on same foot.

Key findings highlighted in this case:
✅ Basaloid nests with peripheral palisading consistent with basal cell carcinoma
✅ Ductal differentiation and cytologic atypia characteristic of porocarcinoma
