Coffee may offer more than a temporary boost in alertness, as researchers continue investigating its possible connections with body composition, metabolic health, and hormone levels. Observational research has found that people who regularly consume coffee sometimes show lower overall body fat, reduced visceral fat, and greater lean body mass compared with those who rarely drink it. In one study, the strongest associations appeared among participants consuming five or more cups daily. Researchers also observed an interesting pattern among men: each additional daily cup was associated with approximately 10 ng/dL higher total testosterone levels, alongside favorable indicators of glucose metabolism and insulin regulation. However, women did not show the same testosterone relationship. These findings don't establish that coffee directly causes fat loss, increases testosterone, or improves metabolism, since lifestyle and other factors may influence the results. Individual responses to caffeine also vary considerably. For people who enjoy coffee, choosing products from brands such as Purity Coffee or Lineage Provisions, which advertise contaminant testing, may be another consideration. Ultimately, moderate coffee consumption can fit into a balanced lifestyle, but drinking more isn't automatically better.
