Food Addiction Reset Community - ARC

Food Addiction Reset Community - ARC The Food Addiction Reset Community (ARC) fills the gaps left by 'weight-loss' programs. You will join one of the many conference calls or receive a recording.

The Food Addiction Reset Community teaches expert strategies and provides support for controlling addictive overeating affordably in the privacy of your own home. It is based on research showing overeating is a brain condition similar to drug addiction. By eliminating addictive foods and learning how to make easy, beautiful meals, you can beat processed food addiction. The ARC runs online at www.foodaddictionreset.com so you can get support and help whereever you are. You will learn to structure daily habits which are the core of relapse prevention. Most importantly you will be in an active supportive group of strong recovery members so no more relying on people who don't understand. You will learn how to avoid relapse triggers that often cause traditional weight-loss programs to fail. Recovery activities will be customized to fit into your lifestyle. To learn more, visit www.foodaddictionreset.com. Dr. Joan Ifland has been teaching processed food addicts since 1996 starting with the publication of her book "Sugars and Flours, How They Make Us Crazy, Sick, and Fat" and extending to the textbook, "Processed Food Addiction."

The Missing Ingredient in Lasting Change

Many of us have known for years what we wanted to change about our relationship with food. The problem was never a lack of information.

Processed foods can create powerful cravings and food noise. Years of repetition also teach the brain to link eating with specific places, times, emotions, people, and routines. We can fully understand what's happening and still find ourselves pulled toward the same familiar response.

What's often overlooked: GLP-1 medications don't erase that learning.

In our latest workshop, we examine both sides of this conversation:

→ What current research shows about digestive side effects, nourishment, and muscle maintenance
→ What can happen when a medication is discontinued
→ Emerging findings on eye health
→ And critically, how the brain actually builds a new, healthier response

Real, lasting behavior change isn't just about knowing what to do. It requires the opportunity to learn, connect, and practice new patterns within everyday life alongside people who understand the persistent nature of cravings and food noise.

That's the foundation of our approach: moving people from simply knowing what supports them to gradually building a life where healthier patterns become the norm.

For years, millions of people were told the same thing: try harder. Eat less. Have more discipline.

But ultra-processed foods are engineered deliberately to be hyper-rewarding and hard to stop eating. They repeatedly activate the same brain and hormone systems involved in appetite and reward. When that system is being triggered again and again, "just use willpower" was never a fair fight.

On September 14, Dr. Joan Ifland, lead editor of the textbook Processed Food Addiction: Foundations, Assessment, and Recovery, is hosting a free live workshop on the science of GLP-1, your body's natural fullness hormone, and how the modern food environment disrupts it.

This isn't about blame. It's about understanding the biology so you can finally address the real problem.

You've probably never heard this about GLP-1

Everyone's talking about GLP-1 medications right now. Fewer cravings. Less "food noise." Dramatic weight loss stories everywhere.

But here's what almost nobody is saying: your body already makes GLP-1. It's a hormone your own gut produces every day for appetite, fullness, blood sugar, and gut-brain communication. The medication didn't invent this system, it just acts on one that was already there.

So the real question isn't "what can the drug do?" It's: what happened to your body's own signal and can it be restored?

Dr. Joan Ifland is breaking this down in a free live workshop on Sept 14.

GLP‑1 is everywhere in the conversation right now, headlines, clinics, social media, you name it. But here’s the part most people never hear:
GLP‑1 isn’t new. Your body has been making it all along.

This workshop breaks down:
• What GLP‑1 actually is
• How it regulates appetite, digestion, and blood sugar
• How the gut–brain–pancreas network communicates after meals
• Why eating behavior is a biological process, not a willpower test
• How ultra‑processed foods disrupt natural GLP‑1 signaling
• What prescription GLP‑1 medications do — and don’t do

If you want a clear, science‑based understanding of appetite and eating behavior, this is the place to start.

Part 2 of "Building Your Personal Food Plan" is now available.

This session explores how familiar, supportive connection helps retrain the brain, reducing uncertainty, lowering mental load, and making it easier to reach out when cravings or stress appear. You’ll learn how observing others can support learning even on foggy days, and how cravings can become cues for connection instead of isolation.

Watch Part 2 and consider which familiar voices help you remember you don’t have to face difficult moments alone.

Dr. Joan Ifland speaks straight to the heart: we don’t need quick fixes or another guru with no credentials. We need a new home.

A place with people who’ve been sick and are now well. People who guide us in everyday life toward being healthy and wealthy, with respect, kindness, and 200+ skills taught slowly.

That’s exactly what the Addiction Reset Community is. A real home where you’re seen, cherished, and supported. No judgment, just people who understand the journey because they’ve walked it too.

If you’ve been searching for belonging, you’ve found it. You deserve to be well. You deserve this home.

Most people trying to change their relationship with food are fighting a battle they were never trained for.
Ultra‑processed foods hijack the brain, and without the right tools, people end up blaming themselves for something that isn’t their fault.
The FARA (Food Addiction Recovery Advocate) program gives you science‑based methods to help calm the neurological response that drives compulsive eating, so change finally becomes sustainable. This isn’t motivation. It’s neuroscience applied with compassion.

If you want to understand why people get stuck and how to help them move forward, start with a free information session.
