Stroke recovery can feel isolating, which is why support networks matter. While family and friends provide important help and encouragement, stroke support groups offer something unique: connection with others who truly understand the experience. Research shows that strong support networks are linked with better mental well-being and improved recovery after stroke.

Support groups can reduce stress, improve coping skills, and create a sense of belonging. Many survivors find that sharing with peers who have “been there” helps them feel less alone and more understood.

We had not one, but two Bingo champions during Hospital Week.

Congratulations to Folashade, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Haley, our Unit Secretary, for taking home the win. It looks like all those sharp therapy and scheduling skills finally paid off; apparently, they have been training for Bingo their entire careers.

Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment used by physical and occupational therapists to help reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore function.

Through skilled techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, and stretching, therapists help patients move better and feel stronger on their road to recovery.

Fear of falling after a stroke is common. It’s your brain’s way of trying to protect you. But sometimes that fear creates a cycle. Fear of falling can lead to avoiding movement, which causes weaker muscles and worse balance, ultimately increasing the risk of falling and reinforcing even more fear.

Signs you may be in this cycle include feeling unsteady, difficulty rising from a chair, fatigue, avoiding activities, worrying about falling during safe tasks, and losing confidence.

The good news is this cycle can be broken. Start by working with your healthcare team to find safe ways to stay active. Balance-focused exercises, physical and occupational therapies, fall prevention strategies, and simple home safety changes can help you rebuild strength, improve stability, and regain confidence, one step at a time.

Danielle came to ClearSky Baytown on a journey to recover from left hemiplegia, a condition that causes weakness or paralysis on the left side of the body.

From day one, her strength, charisma, and beautiful smile have inspired everyone around her. At only 20 years old, she continues to show determination and courage through every step of her recovery.

We are so proud to be part of her journey and grateful for the trust she has placed in our team. Keep shining, Danielle. Your resilience is inspiring so many around you.

Today, we say “see you later” to our beloved patient and friend, Blaine, as he returns home after working incredibly hard to regain his strength, independence, and confidence.

Throughout his journey at ClearSky Baytown, Blaine not only inspired us with his determination, but also left a special piece of himself with us through his beautiful paintings, which will always remain in our therapy office as a reminder of his resilience, creativity, and spirit.

Blaine, thank you for allowing us to be part of your recovery journey and for becoming part of the ClearSky Health family. We are beyond proud of you and cannot wait to see all the amazing things ahead for you.

Thank you for choosing ClearSky Baytown.
