I first met Nova as my doula mentor 2 years ago and I knew back then she was going to be my midwife but I did not know the friendship we would grow through that time. I love you Nova!

I made this 🥹

I actually cried while processing my own placenta. Holding her in my hands was a bitter sweet feeling.
So much love and thankfulness to her for holding and keeping my baby safe inside of me, but there was also some resentment. Because girl whhhhhhyyy did you have to give me such a hard time at the end! (I was managing hypertension, swelling and eventually diagnosed with pre eclampsia the day I gave birth) ugh! But there was also just this aha wow feeling of holding my own organ in my hands. Very surreal.
I cried, I thanked her, I took my time making some keepsakes and then I dehydrated her. I decided I didn’t want to consume my placenta so for now I have her in powder form until I decide where/how I want to bury her.

I included the photo with my hand for size reference. My placenta was pretty small compared to others I’ve encountered. I’ve noticed with some of my previous clients that had pre eclampsia that they also had smaller placentas. I thought that was interesting.
