I havs had so many people ask me about our sweet Oakie Jo while we're out and about. Whether it's because im wearing my Oakie shirts, asking about her tubie, her colorless hair or just wanting to know her story💛

To make it easier we now have these cute Oakie Jo Cancer Journey cards with a QR code that takes you directly to her page or gofundme account!

Now instead of trying to explain everything or try and help them find it on their phones, I can simply hand them a card so they can follow her journey if they would likes

If you would like a card (or a handful) to keep with you and hand out if some ask about Oakie Jo just let me know!
(Pick up, delivery or send in mail can be arranged)

Thank you all for loving, supprting, praying for and cheering on our sweet girl 🥰
Every new person who follows her journey means the world to us. 💜🎗️

As many of you know, the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee became our home away from home before, during, and after Oakie's brain cancer diagnosis.
During some of the hardest days of our lives, they gave our family a warm, welcoming place to stay so we could focus on what mattered most, being together and by Oakie's side.

Now we'd love the opportunity to give back to the place that gave so much to us.

We're collecting donations for the Ronald McDonald House, and there are a couple of easy ways to help:

❤️ You can order items directly from our Amazon Wish List, and they'll be shipped right to our house. (I will put the link in the comments, or search the list on Amazon using Oakie Strong RMH Donations)
https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/GDEEHPX2BKYO?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_ggr-subnav-share_D9XEV3Z2KQE0AZ0SX5ZY&language=en-US

❤️ If you'd rather shop in person, donations can be dropped off at our home in Howard, WI (send me a message for our address), or I'd be happy to arrange a pickup.

We'll be delivering all of the donations on Friday, August 28 while we're in Milwaukee the evening before the Make-A-Wish Walk, where Team Oakie Strong will be participating.

Every donation, big or small, will help support families who are facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives—just like we once were.

Thank you so much for helping us give back to a place that will always hold a special place in our hearts. ❤️

First off, thank you all so much for the prayers. 🙏 It has been an absolute roller coaster of a week and a half with our sweet little fighter, Oakie Jo.

What we originally thought was just a typical "chemo rash" started to change. I took her in to have it checked, went home, and followed the recommendations we were given—but it only got worse. Every day the rash spread more, became increasingly red, inflamed, and incredibly painful. Hearing our sweet girl beg me to "stop the owies" and the itching absolutely broke my heart.

I took her back several more times and was repeatedly told it was just a chemo rash made worse by the extreme heat. Deep down, this mama knew something wasn't right. (I'm not a doctor...yet. 😉) We were told to see a dermatologist, but I couldn't find a single opening before the fall.

On Wednesday, we finally saw an absolute angel of a doctor. She agreed that the rash didn't look right. She wasn't sure exactly what it was, but she immediately took it seriously. She did a culture, started Oakie on antibiotics because of her weekly chemo, and personally called a dermatologist to get her seen as soon as possible.

Thursday morning, after less than 24 hours on antibiotics, we finally saw some improvement. Then that same wonderful doctor called with the culture results: Oakie had a pretty severe staph infection. 😳 She told us she was so thankful we had already started antibiotics because, with how weakened Oakie's little body/system is from chemo, she could have become septic very quickly.

Today we saw the dermatologist, and while the infection is still serious, she said it's responding well to the antibiotics. She also told us she was so thankful she got to meet Oakie in the clinic instead of in a hospital bed because if we had waited even another day or two, things could have been much, much worse.

I have a lot of thoughts about some of the appointments we had over the past week, but today I'm choosing gratitude. I'm thankful I trusted my mama instincts, thankful for the doctors who truly listened, and most of all, thankful that our sweet girl is safe.

Unfortunately, because of the infection, we do have to temporarily pause her chemo until she is completely healed. While it's disappointing to hit this bump in the road, we know it's the safest thing for her right now.

Please continue praying for our little fighter—that this infection clears quickly, her body heals completely, and she's able to restart chemo smoothly and successfully. Thank you all for loving on Oakie Jo, praying for her, and walking this journey with our family. We appreciate every single one of you more than you'll ever know. 💛🩶🙏

Enjoy a few pics from her appointment today 🥰 cant go to Children's hospital without stopping at the gift shop for some new treasures 🙃
