I do not subscribe to the hierarchy of grief. It seems unfair to others to compare my losses to theirs and minimize their grieving experience. Grief is grief and pain is pain.

Grieving who you once were is one of the many layers associated with grief. It’s normal to lose interest in hobbies and relationships. I know I will never be the same, but I’m as close as I’m ever going to get.

Your mind and your heart needs rest. You need to take grief breaks. You can turn on the TV and just stare at it. You can take a walk while blasting music or call a friend and tell them you don’t want to talk about you or your pain. Do whatever works for you.

Special days and anniversaries are coming whether we want them to or not. The best way to address these days is to have a plan. Grief is already so debilitating we don’t have the bandwidth to handle one more thing.

You will not feel this way forever. The intensity that you are carrying this pain will decrease over time. That being said you have to fight for your healing and process your grief everyday to unload those negative emotions.

Grief is more than just death. It is also the normal and natural reaction to loss of any kind. There are more than forty-five Everyone will have a grieving experience at some point in their lives. Yet, we are never prepared.

Feeling like you want to die when you’re grieving is normal. There’s nothing wrong with you. Grief is heavy and it’s dark. I felt the same thing after losing the boys.

There are choices in just like there are in life. Don’t get stuck in the wrong choices like I did. One of the reasons I choose this work is to help as many people as possible find healing because grief is very hard to navigate alone.
