There are many ways in our humanness we can began to interpret faith. For a lot of us our example of producing it or solidifying its validity was through our deeds. The homeless man we gave the change in our cup holder to, the song we sung in church the Sunday prior, the hug we gave to a person we held distain for. Though all these deeds can correspond with what Christ asks of us they are often done from a place of pride or what feels like ease. James 2:18-24 reiterates the story of Abraham and his willingness to obey God and trust him despite his circumstances. His ability to be obedient in his actions and trusting in the Lord wholeheartedly allowed him to work out his faith. Not because he got goosebumps while doing it or it made him feel good but because he believed he served a righteous and all knowing God that would see him through whatever it is he asked of him. So the next time “Faith without works is dead” is placed within your heart/mind know that only by obedience to the Lord and trusting him can you work it out. Ask yourself what areas do I Iack obedience in or have decided to no longer trust you with? This leads to true joy despite your circumstances and ultimately his glorification. Be kinder to yourself and others around you today!💕

Distraction from who God would have you to be doesn’t always look and feel negative. Sometimes it feels like progression towards a goal, sometimes it’s the overextension of yourself disguised as generosity, sometimes it’s the eagerness to lean into your own understanding. If our hearts are ultimately deceitful and “desperately” wicked. (Jeremiah 17:9) The enemy can often use what we deem to be done with “good” intention to stray us from Christ. If you are more trusting in your own ability to make even the smallest of decisions, you are in fact participating in the same lie Satan fed Eve in the garden. (Genesis 3:1-6) If we allow Christ to be sufficient in governing our lives we are less susceptible to question whether or not he is sufficient to begin with. Be kinder to yourself and others around you today.💕

There can be a sense of loneliness within singleness, dating, and even at the end of relationships that feels extremely uncomfortable/unbearable. So much so there is an innate desire to fill that gap. Often times with another sense of companionship or a vice. There are ways to approach this feeling without sacrificing your character or who Christ would have you to be. There is no comparison to the love he has for you. On this Valentine’s Day, you are encouraged rest in that love alone without the expectation of someone/something else to fill it. You are encouraged to take a break from social media if you’re prone to covet what others have and journal, exercise, start a hobby or go to the restaurant you’ve been wanting to try. You are also encouraged to celebrate his love and sacrifices he made on this earth on your behalf. You can’t have fulfilling companionship without Christ! Be kinder to yourself and other’s around you today!🥹💕

It’s no coincidence that mental turmoil or illness begins at some of the earliest stages of brain development. As a child why would you have thoughts of unworthiness when you can’t or have yet to have an understanding of being worthy. How can you convince yourself you are unlovable without having the ability to conceptualize love. Why is it easier to deem your existence a mistake without fully understanding who you are. It’s because something sought to destroy you long before you were born. Your circumstances or environment were tools used to convince you of lies and possibly still are. Suicidal ideation, anxiety, and depressiveness have no reign in a body that belongs to Christ. These things are to be surrendered to him, whether they show up in you or a child/adolescent you know. This is a battle worth conquering through prayer, fasting, and reading Gods word. Understanding his character is to identify thoughts that don’t come from him but your adversary. Be kinder to yourself & the children/teenagers around you today💕

Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

The complexity and simplicity of our human experience can so easily be mistaken for the complexities and simplicities of Gods character. Simply because it’s the only understanding we have…our own earthly experiences. He is so much more than that. Our idols, fears, and mistakes lead our lives while his love and forgiveness have the capability to drive it out. Relationship with him is sufficient as well as his forgiveness…in suffering, in shame of our sinful nature, and in our shortcomings. He loves you not because you’re good but because he is. Surrender your heart to him & Be kinder to yourself and those around you💕

It’s important that you don’t associate depressive thoughts with who you are in grief. Your individuality is separate from just how dark and clouded your judgement can get in a sorrowful state. Adjusting to a new reality requires patience and for you to stick around longer than you may want to but sticking around ensures that you feel all the love and support Christ intends for you to have while preparing you to love and support other people in that same way. You’re needed, you’re wanted, and most of all you’re loved. If there is ever a doubt of that fact in your mind, choose to trust God enough to pull you through it. He will and don’t be afraid to reach out to someone for prayer or support when he does! Be kinder to yourself and those around you today as well as hopeful💕🤞🏾

If you’re struggling with feeling supported in your grief. Confusion about what that would look like and how it would suit you. You’re not even sure how to ask for it. Depressiveness is beginning to or has consumed your thoughts. Anxiety leads your decision making and you don’t trust yourself as well as the people around you with what you’re going through. You may be giving this responsibility of support to the wrong people. You may be requiring a level of intimacy in relationship that only Jesus can provide. Placing this responsibility on people who may have hurt you or you love dearly will only highlight how you feel they have failed you. The truth is they are human with their own unique experiences in trauma, pain, and suffering. Often times in the moments you feel you have no one to turn to is an opportunity to lean on the one who’s brought you this far. As well as extend grace and forgiveness to those who have let you down. His love will be the only thing that will suffice, you have to love people enough to understand that. Especially now, this is when it counts! Be kinder to yourself and others around you today!

Insecurities can be extremely difficult to navigate, especially if you weren’t taught how to. It’s a lot easier to shame yourself into patterns of depression and anxiety than to face the reality that you are flawed. That becoming acquainted with that fact might be exactly what you need in order to turn your heart towards the one who loves you anyway. Forgive yourself and those around you for mistakes made. Take responsibility for them and move forward with the wisdom you have because of them. Suffering just may be your saving grace. Be kinder to yourself and others around you today and don’t forget black girls grieve too💕

It is so important as a black woman to recognize how deeply you can be affected by patterns of trauma and toxicity. How the recovery process is a lot more strenuous than we would like to admit to not only ourselves but everyone around us. That takes an immense amount of vulnerability that we often times have no ways to navigate and are even told to shy away from. To embrace all that you are is to admit that you are flawed, that some things inside of you are broken & although it’s not your fault it is still your responsibility, that what worked for you as a child or even protected you at some point…no longer serves you. (1 Corinthians 13:11) That’s what’s so beautiful about suffering, that there, even in the thick of it, is who God would have you to be. Grieving a part of you that you’ve known for so long is difficult and sometimes down right uncomfortable but worth it. Be kinder to yourself and those around you today💕🤞🏾

There are many ways fear can show up in our lives. In conversation with others, in small interactions with family, in moments where we’re required to be uncomfortable, those mornings when you can’t seem to find clarity. When your thoughts run so rapid you would just like a break from them. These are situations we like to contribute to our own character, what we may lack, or how sorrowful we may be. But there is hope there, there is where you have an opportunity to be exactly who God would have you to be. There is where you’re strength lies, If God hath not given the spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7) Then these moments are only a representation of how in him you can overcome. Be kinder to yourself and others around you today💕✨
