Using my cat’s purr to heal my broken wrist.

I’ve been sitting here with my brace off, letting my tiny sound healer do her thing.

A cat’s purr isn’t just a cute sound. It vibrates at frequencies between about 25-150 Hz, which happens to be the same frequency range scientists have studied for tissue repair, bone growth, and inflammation reduction.

So when your cat is purring on you, it’s not just comforting you emotionally, it’s literally sending low-level vibrations through your body.

Just a reminder that healing can be this simple... and cats are awesome. 🐾

Everything is a little quieter over here right now.

I injured my wrist this week, so I’ll be slowing down for a bit.

All the ways I usually move, create, and give… paused.

So this evening looks like this.

Sitting outside.
Tea within reach.
Nowhere to be.

I didn’t realize how much of my life is built around doing, until I didn’t have the option.

So for now, I’m letting this be enough.

No hurries.
No worries.

Just being here.

You’re not bad at relaxing.

Your system just hasn’t learned that it’s safe yet.

If your mind is constantly going…
If your body feels tense even when nothing’s wrong…
If you sit down to rest and immediately reach for your phone...

That’s not you doing something wrong.

That’s a nervous system that has learned to stay alert.

A lot of people try to override this by forcing themselves to slow down or talking themselves out of it.

But your body doesn’t respond to pressure like that.

It responds to safety.

And safety isn’t something you think your way into. It’s something your body experiences, little by little.

Nothing is broken here.

Your system just hasn’t been given the conditions to soften yet.

It started with chakra crystals and selenite for my Reiki students - just wanting to offer them at a more affordable price. No website. Just a small shelf in my Reiki room.

Grounding isn't a spiritual concept.
It's neurological. 🧠

When you feel overwhelmed, your brain shifts into protection mode (fight-or-flight). 🤯
Your thoughts speed up.
Your breath becomes shallow.
Your body prepares for something to happen.

Grounding interrupts that loop. 👣

When you bring awareness to your feet pressing into the floor, the weight of your body in a chair, the temperature of the air on your skin, or the rhythm of your breath... You move attention away from spiraling thoughts and into physical sensation.

Sensation happens in the present moment.

The brain reads this as, "I am here. Nothing is chasing me. I am safe right now." 😌

Grounding isnt about forcing yourself to be calm. It's about giving your nervous system evidence of safety.

If you're new to Reiki, you're probably curious what a session feels like.

The honest answer is: It depends.

Some people feel warmth, tingling, or gentle energy moving through the body. Others feel deeply relaxed, like their nervous system is finally slowing down. You might notice emotions, spaciousness, or simply quiet. Sometimes the biggest shifts happen after — better sleep, clarity, or feeling more settled.

You may see Reiki online portrayed as dramatic jumps or jolts. While that can happen, it’s far more common for Reiki to feel subtle — a gentle release, a soft unwinding.

Every experience is different, and even the practitioner you work with can shape how a session feels through their presence and way of holding space.

If you’re curious, the best way to understand Reiki is to experience it for yourself.
