The Martin County Health Department proudly welcomed 37 students for the first day of the You Matter Appalachia Internship Program!
This 9-week paid internship provides high school and college students with meaningful opportunities to develop leadership skills, explore career pathways, and engage in hands-on community projects. Interns will participate in one of three specialized cohorts: Youth & Family Support, Community Development & Tourism, or Community Health & Wellness.
Throughout the summer, participants will hear from guest speakers and industry professionals on topics including leadership, communication, project management, innovation, and emerging technologies. These experiences are designed to help students build valuable skills while strengthening their connection to the communities they serve.
At its core, the You Matter Appalachia Internship is about investing in the next generation of leaders. Our goal is for every participant to leave this experience with greater confidence, a stronger sense of purpose, and the understanding that their talents, ideas, and contributions are important to the future of Appalachia.
The Martin County Health Department extends its sincere appreciation to our partners, supporters, and community members who have helped make this opportunity possible. We look forward to watching these students learn, grow, and make a lasting impact throughout the summer!
