Immediate acrylic upper partial, for after the surgical removal of a failing anterior bridge.

We had great communication with the prosthodontist on this case to optimize the esthetics as much as possible, and the end result was excellent! The main concern when setting the teeth was that the midline on the patient's old bridge was misaligned and deviated to the patient's left. We replicated that in the partial, and then shaped the lateral incisors asymmetrically to fill the edentulous space. Really nice esthetic work on this! Brian@TDL

The lab RX for this flexi partial came with a special request from the doctor: This patient has Parkinson's disease ... Could you design the partial to make insertion & removal a little easier? Absolutely!

In general, flexible partials are easier for many patients to insert and remove, as the clasps will naturally flex around the teeth and soft tissue to engage undercuts for retention. As an extra help, we built up the DuraFlex material above the restored denture tooth and at the C-clasp around the first molar to make the partial a little easier to grip.

Every denture we make is customized to the patient and their unique anatomy and needs, so meeting this request was our pleasure.

Friday denture set-ups! Preliminary set-ups in wax for new P/P and F/F cases.

Ivoclar BlueLine teeth for both. And a nice wax-up to give the patients and their doctors a good, albeit approximate, idea of the look of the final prostheses.

New flexible partial, restoring the edentulous space at teeth 29 : 30 with single molar. Filling the space with a single tooth was primarily an esthetic compromise: the tooth we selected matches the size of the natural dentition more closely than two smaller teeth would have. The clasps were also designed with esthetics in mind, with a larger lingual profile for stability and retention and a smaller buccal profile for minimal visibility.

Final prosthesis: DuraFlex acrylic with Ivoclar BlueLine DCL tooth.

Finished split set-up for an immediate CUD.

This was an interesting case, with severe class II occlusion. The set-up required some problem solving to balance function and esthetics. These are just a few highlights from my thought process while working on the case. 😁
