What you are seeing…

are ingredients commonly found in many processed foods.

When you start reading ingredient lists, you’ll notice them in things like:

packaged snacks
bakery items
sweetened drinks
ready-to-eat foods
Breakfast foods

They may seem harmless.
Together, they create something the body has to work to quite hard to understand.

And when the body is busy trying to figure things out…
it takes energy away from growth, healing, learning, creativity, and even impacts our mood.

This is about awareness.
Because when we see differently…
we begin to choose differently.

Healing postpartum

Imagine being this excited.
Your whole body is in it.
Your nervous system is lit up.
You’re laughing, moving, completely absorbed.

And then—
someone walks in and says,
“Okay, we’re done. Time to go now” or “time to stop”

No warning.
No transition.
No space to land.

You’d be frustrated too.
You’d probably snap.
You might even feel angry or overwhelmed.

Now shrink that nervous system down to the size of a toddler’s and take away the majority of the brain that helps us control impulse

with less language, less context, and minimal ability to regulate what just happened.

That’s play for kids.
It’s not quiet.
It’s not calm.
It’s a full-body experience.

So when play suddenly stops and emotions spill out,
They are not trying to be defiant.
Or dramatic
It’s simply biology.

Meltdowns aren’t a sign that something is “wrong.”
They’re a sign that they need help regulating emotions that they don’t know how to manage.

Sometimes the most supportive thing we can do
is remember how intense joy feels!!!
What it’s like when we are having fun! Being deep in the joys of life! And then it has to come to an end…
and how hard it is to turn it off on command.

Cause deep inside- we are all toddlers too!! 🤪

I threw out half my baby and kiddo products the day I learned this. 😰

And no one had ever warned me.

When I was pregnant with my first, I bought everything labeled “gentle” and “baby-safe.”

I truly believed I was doing the right thing.
Then I learned about fragrance.

Not the natural kind...
the synthetic “fragrance” hiding behind that single word on ingredient labels.

Here’s what stopped me in my tracks:

🧠 WHAT MOST PARENTS AREN’T TOLD

“Fragrance” is a legal loophole.
It can hide hundreds of undisclosed chemicals, including phthalates, known endocrine disruptors that interfere with hormones critical for brain development.
Some of these chemicals can cross the placental barrier during pregnancy.

👶 WHERE IT SHOWS UP
• Baby lotions & shampoos
• Wipes
• Laundry detergent
• Room sprays
• Even products labeled “unscented” (fragrance is often added to mask chemical odors)

✅ WHAT I CHOSE TO DO INSTEAD
• Switched to products labeled “fragrance-free” (not just unscented)
• Looked for products that list exact ingredients
• Chose the boring bottles with ingredients I could recognize

The wild part?

Most parents have no idea this is even something to question.
The baby industry has normalized it.

And I am not here to scare anyone... we have enough fear out there.

It would be impossible to avoid every chemical out there.
What is possible is having information early enough to choose.
Our babies’ brains develop faster in the first 1,000 days than at any other time in life.

What they’re exposed to during that window matters.
I just wish someone had told me sooner.
So now, I tell parents.
