The best time to find your athlete’s weak link?

Before the season finds it for them. 👀

A preseason performance + risk assessment can uncover strength deficits, side-to-side differences, mobility restrictions, landing and deceleration issues, and other areas that may be limiting performance.

It’s not about predicting injuries.

It’s about getting objective data so we can make training more intentional.

Instead of waiting until something hurts, we can identify what needs work, train it, and measure the progress.

Assess. Train. Retest. Perform. 💪

Want to know what your athlete needs to work on before the season? Come get a baseline.

What do we see when an athlete cuts?

Changing direction fast isn’t just about speed. It’s about how well an athlete can control and redirect force.

When we coach cutting and deceleration at The Rehab Lab, here are 3 things we’re watching:

1️⃣ Body position: Is the athlete in a strong, athletic position that allows them to brake and redirect efficiently?

2️⃣ Knee + hip control: Can they maintain control through the hip, knee, and foot as forces increase?

3️⃣ Deceleration strategy: Are they absorbing force effectively before trying to explode in a new direction?

These details matter for both performance and injury prevention. The goal isn’t to make athletes afraid of certain positions, it’s to prepare them to own those positions at game speed.

Better brakes → better cuts → more confident athletes. ⚡

Talent might give you an advantage early, but durability and consistency are what separate athletes long term. The ones who stay healthy and continue improving are the ones who invest in their body.

Knee pain when jumping? The knee might not be the whole story. 🦵👀

Jumping and landing require the entire lower body to work together. Ankle capacity, hip strength, movement strategy, training load, and recovery can all be important pieces of the puzzle.

That’s why we don’t want to just chase the painful spot. We want to understand the athlete, assess what may be contributing, and build an intentional plan forward. 💪

Persistent or worsening pain should be evaluated by an appropriate healthcare professional.

Effort alone is not enough if it is not directed at the right things. If your training is not addressing your weaknesses or preparing you for your sport, you can work as hard as you want and still stay stuck.

Strength isn't built by doing more. It's built by doing the right things consistently. 💪

Single-arm rows aren't just about building a stronger back.

They're about improving posture, shoulder stability, grip strength, and the foundation athletes need to perform at a higher level.

The basics done well will always outperform the fancy stuff done poorly.

A little appreciation for the guy who usually puts everyone else in the spotlight. 🤍

Kero, this one's for you!!!

At The Rehab Lab, leadership is about more than running a business or coaching athletes. It's about making people feel seen, heard, and valued.

Kero leads with intentionality, invests in his team, and genuinely cares about the athletes and families who walk through our doors. He doesn't just focus on helping someone recover or perform better. He takes the time to build relationships and pour into the person behind the athlete.

That's what makes this place different.

We're grateful for the way he leads, the community he's building, and the example he sets both inside and outside the gym.

We're all a family here, and we love you, Kero. 🫶

If Kero has made an impact on you or your athlete, share your favorite memory in the comments!

Unfortunately, I can confirm that doing your rehab exercises once every two weeks does not count as “doing your rehab.” 😔

Neither does doing all of them the night before your next appointment because you suddenly remembered we were going to ask.

We know. Devastating news.

Rehab usually isn’t about finding one magical exercise that fixes everything.

It’s about giving your body the right stimulus, progressing it appropriately, and doing it consistently enough for your body to actually adapt.

1️⃣ The boring exercises matter.

2️⃣ The small progressions matter.

3️⃣ The days when nothing exciting happens matter.

4️⃣ And yes, the exercises we asked you to do at home matter too. 🙂

Your appointments are part of the process.

What you do between them is part of the process too.

Unfortunately, we can also confirm that we can tell when you haven’t been doing them.

See you at your next appointment. 😂
