I’ve been diving in to what are the threads that run through all the work I do. Lately I’m feeling the importance of the theme of becoming more self-guided, rather than blindly following the guidance of the other.
I want to remind you of how wise you truly are.
With all of the corruption and abuses of power being wielded by those in power (whether it’s the ultra-rich, religious leaders, politicians) it can leave one feeling quite disillusioned. I realize that in some way I have a position of “power” as your teacher, if you come to my classes. I want to be responsible in this position.
And what I want to help people that come to my classes with is to become more and more self guided. To trust yourself. This is not to be confused with EGO-GUIDED. And it certainly is not, do everything I say, because I know better than you do. As best I can, I encourage you to “see what ‘x’ feels like for you.” “Move how YOUR body wants to move.”
This work is deep. And not for the faint of heart. Because we live in a world where the norm seems to be, depend on others for your answers. Look outside of yourself for the answers. Trust the experts over your intuition. (And no, I’m not saying there are not experts in every field of study.)
So with that, know that when you come to one of my classes, I’m not just teaching you exercises or moves. My hope is that I’m helping you tune in to your own inner knowing. To get to know yourself more intimately. To trust yourself more. To be your own best friend. This is the gift that yoga has been for me and my truest desire is that I can share some inkling of that with you.
Namaste friends 🙏🏼
