ROAD TOUR | 📍 JACKSON ACADEMY

We had a great visit to Jackson Academy yesterday as part of our Road Tour with Jake Wimberly and ESPN The Zone. From coaches to athletes and staff, it’s always an honor to connect with the programs that help shape high school sports across Mississippi.

Dr. Austin Barrett, hip and knee specialist, Jackson Academy team physician, and JA Alum joined us for the afternoon as we looked ahead to another exciting school year and sports season.

Mississippi Sports Medicine is proud to serve the Jackson Academy Raiders as the official team physicians. We’re excited for another year of helping the Raiders stay healthy, safe, and ready for the season ahead. 🏈

One of our favorite parts of the year is hitting the road to visit high schools and coaches across Mississippi.

This stop took us to Hartfield Academy, where Jake sat down with Hartfield coaches and our Sports Outreach Manager, Rod Scott, to talk about why having athletic trainers and team physicians on the sidelines is so important. From preventing injuries to making return-to-play decisions, having the right medical team in place helps keep student-athletes as safe as possible throughout the season.

Before joining Mississippi Sports Medicine, Rod served as Associate Athletic Trainwr with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Head Athletic Trainer for Michigan State Football, bringing years of experience caring for athletes at every level.
