THEN ➡️ NOW 🙌

After losing his wife to tragic medical conditions, Chris turned to alcohol to numb the pain. For months, he drowned in grief — until his children and family fought to bring him back.

Today, Chris stands tall — sober, strong, and serving the Lord and his community. 💪
He honors his beloved wife by walking each day in recovery and helping others find hope.

You’ll catch Chris at Home Depot or at church, always lending a hand and sharing his story of redemption.

Meet Malik — one of our brothers at Foundations of Freedom.

After years of navigating dual-diagnosis addiction and mental health challenges, Malik found support through Sulzbacher’s Mental Health Outpatient Program (MHOP). Today, he’s standing tall, living in recovery, and preparing to step into the future with purpose.

At Foundations of Freedom, part of our curriculum is walking alongside our men through resume building, job readiness, and employment opportunities—equipping them with practical tools for long-term success. Malik is a powerful reminder of what can happen when recovery, support, and opportunity come together.

We’re incredibly proud of you, Malik. Keep moving forward—your story is inspiring, and your future is bright.

Iron Sharpens Iron. ♠️🛡️

Iron sharpens iron doesn’t always mean deep, stressful talks. Sometimes it means working out together. Playing spades together. Doing life together. Not sharing religion, but sharing hearts.

Tonight, the Foundations of Freedom and Kingdom Built Men came together for an evening of fellowship, friendly competition, and connection over a game of spades.

The message was simple but powerful: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)

Recovery isn’t meant to be walked alone. We grow stronger when we encourage, challenge, and build each other up in faith, accountability, and brotherhood.

We’re grateful for another night of laughter, community, and lives being strengthened together. One hand at a time. One day at a time. One brother at a time.

No business survives without taking inventory. No soul survives addiction without taking one either. Studies show working the 12 steps with a sponsor more than doubles someone’s chances of lasting recovery. That’s why it’s non-negotiable at Foundations of Freedom — every man gets a sponsor and walks all 12 steps.

Today’s step study: Step 4, moral inventory. This is what real accountability looks like. 💪

From the woods to a whole new life. 🙌

Roger spent over 20 years trapped in addiction and homelessness — sleeping in the woods, on couches, in campers. M**h had a grip on his life that felt impossible to break.

Then one day, scrolling through Facebook, he saw his cousin Paul — one of FOF’s leaders — living free and sober. Roger didn’t think that kind of freedom was real. So he reached out and asked Paul if it was true.

Paul told him yes. He’d found God, and he was finally free.

That conversation planted a seed. A couple days later, a bed opened up, and Roger walked through the doors of Foundations of Freedom ready to reclaim his life.

Today? Roger is the chef of his house. He’s cooking meals, fellowshiping with his community daily, and building a life he never thought was possible.

No looking back!

From “Then” to “Now” — this is what real transformation looks like. 🙌

Thanks to Duval County’s alternative-to-incarceration and jail diversion programs, men like Aaron are getting something priceless: another chance.

Aaron found himself caught up in the system due to alcohol-related struggles. Today, he’s a father, a husband, and an asset to his community — rebuilding his life centered on God, family, and purpose.

This is why we do this work. Not just second chances, but second chances that stick.

We’re honored to walk alongside men like Aaron. 💙

After his third DUI landed him in jail and facing prison time, Jaime hit a turning point — he realized the problem wasn’t the world around him, it was his relationship with alcohol. He asked his attorney for one thing: a chance at treatment instead of a cell.

The Clay County Attorney’s Office reached out to FOF in March 2026 to screen Jaime, then fought to get him sentenced to our program instead of prison.

Four months later, Jaime has rebuilt his relationship with God, rebuilt his business, and reunited with his family — sober and free. Today, he was honored as Serve Team MVP for his selfless service at church.

This is what restoration looks like. We are proud of you, Jaime. 🙌

A little over a year ago, David was referred to us by Clay Behavioral. He was broken, on probation, and felt like he had nowhere else to turn. While he was hesitant to step into faith, he knew he had to try something different.

When David received his first clean drug test, you would have thought it was Christmas morning. That moment changed everything. He realized that if he could do it for one month, he could keep doing it—one day at a time.

This past year has brought incredible challenges, including the loss of both of his parents. Yet through the pain, God has been faithful. Today, David celebrates one year of sobriety, a growing relationship with God that he continues to build every day, and the launch of his own landscaping company—a dream that once felt impossible.

The first photo is a reminder of where David started. The next photos are a testament to what God can do through surrender, perseverance, and the support of a community that believes in second chances. The final photo? That’s the business he’s worked so hard to build.

We are incredibly proud of you, David. Thank you for showing that no matter where you’ve been, your story isn’t over. Congratulations on one year sober—we can’t wait to see where God leads you next.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

Sunday night’s conversation was a reminder that real transformation begins in the mind. We identified the lies we’ve believed, exposed the triggers that hold us back, and chose to surrender them to God instead of letting them define us.

Thank you, Justin Geauxst Bordeaux and this brotherhood that’s committed to growing, healing, and pursuing Christ together. 🙏

From multiple overdoses, hospital stays, and bouts of homelessness, nearly everyone in Matt’s life had written him off as a lost cause—a lost soul. Everyone except his parents.

Refusing to give up on their son, they made one more call to Foundations of Freedom.

After yet another overdose, we met Matt at Orange Park Hospital and asked him one simple question: “Are you ready to get your life back?”

Though doubtful he could do it, Matt surrendered and agreed to give Foundations of Freedom a chance.

One year later, Matt is standing tall. He’s reunited with his family, has a full-time career, a valid driver’s license, and a vehicle of his own. Most importantly, he’s living proof that recovery is possible and that hope is never lost.

The best is yet to come!
