Sometimes the best way to understand someone else’s experience is to step into their shoes—even for just a few minutes. 💜

As part of our Alz Power Week 💜 we welcomed a special guest from Concierge Care who gave our team an interactive dementia demonstration designed to simulate some of the sensory changes a person living with dementia may experience.

Our Assisted Living Director, William Rouse, volunteered for the hot seat! Wearing sensory-reducing goggles, gloves, and headphones, William was asked to complete seemingly simple tasks like pouring and drinking a glass of water and putting toothpaste on a toothbrush.

Watching everyday tasks suddenly become frustrating and difficult was a powerful reminder for all of us: what may seem simple to us may not feel simple to the person we are caring for.

Experiences like this help us lead with a little more patience, understanding, and empathy—and ultimately provide better care for the residents we serve. 💙

At our Service Awards, we recognized team members celebrating 6, 7, 11—and even 26 years of service at Cypress Village!

💦🚗 $822 raised to support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s! 💜

We held our first-ever Cypress Village Car Wash today, and our team showed up ready to WORK! Staff spent the day washing cars for a great cause, while our residents in Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Long-Term Care enjoyed a special day of water fun. ☀️💦

And of course, we couldn’t have a water day without a dunk tank! A huge thank you to our Assisted Living Director, William Rouse, and Executive Director, Ty Morgan, for so willingly taking a seat and letting our residents take their best shot! 😂👏

Nothing beats cooling off on a hot Florida day while raising money for an incredible cause. Thank you to everyone who donated, participated, volunteered, and helped us raise $822 for the Alzheimer’s Association! 💜

Our first Cypress Village Murder Mystery Dinner was a killer success! 🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♂️

Our resident detectives were thrown into an unexpected investigation filled with suspicious motives, questionable alibis, hidden messages, eyewitness testimony, evidence that may or may not have been useful, and plenty of laughs along the way.

By the end of the night, accusations were made, theories were tested, and the killer was revealed!

🔎 And for detectives who might want another crack at the case: come back! We’ve prepared an alternate ending for next Friday, which means the evidence may look familiar… but the truth could be completely different. 👀

Cypress Village was honored to host the very first Jacksonville Walk to End Alzheimer’s Committee meeting! 💜

With the incredible leadership of Carly Wille from the Alzheimer’s Association, we welcomed both returning committee members and new faces, all united by one goal: ending Alzheimer’s. It was inspiring to see so many passionate advocates come together to begin planning for this year’s walk.

We’re grateful to serve as the kickoff meeting location and look forward to finding even more ways to support this important cause as we count down to the Jacksonville Walk to End Alzheimer’s this November.
