UNF Day at Cypress Village celebrated a growing partnership with the University of North Florida 🎓✨
Residents, employees, students, faculty, and university leaders came together for the second annual event, highlighting the many ways this collaboration continues to enrich lives across Cypress Village and the greater Jacksonville community.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees heard from Executive Director Ty Morgan, Dr. Mei Zhao (Dean of the Brooks College of Health), Dr. Shyam Paryani (Director of the Lifestyle Management Program and Community Engagement), UNF Admissions Representative Keith Bradshaw, Assistant Head Basketball Coach Zach Freesman, and UNF President Dr. Angela Garcia Falconetti—sharing opportunities in lifelong learning, wellness, athletics, arts, academics, and future collaboration.
A deeply meaningful moment came when President Falconetti recognized Cypress Village resident Dr. Ellie Schreier, Professor Emerita at UNF, reflecting on the lasting impact of her mentorship during her own time as a student. Her influence served as a powerful reminder of the legacy of educators and the lives they continue to shape.
More than anything, the day reflected connection. A partnership that has become truly reciprocal—where residents gain access to university programs and resources, and UNF students and faculty gain wisdom, perspective, and lived experience from the Cypress Village community.
The launch of the Cypress Village–UNF Lifestyle Enrichment Series added to the excitement, bringing monthly university-level learning directly to campus. Topics will include brain health, financial wellness, nutrition, purposeful living, fall prevention, and the arts.
The series begins in July with “America’s 250th Celebration: What’s Next?” as the community looks ahead to this historic milestone.
UNF Day wasn’t just a celebration of what’s been built—it was a glimpse of what’s still to come 🌿📚
