Seeking connection is a basic human drive. We need more connection when we are feeling uncertain or we have less power or control. Connection provides reassurance and safety. we hope for as much of that as possible, for all humans, big and little 💙

The question isn’t why do they keep doing this to get attention. The question is what are they trying to tell us they need.

Attention isn’t a luxury.
It’s not a manipulation.
It’s one of the most fundamental human needs - to be seen, to matter, to have someone stay.

A child who seeks it loudly, persistently, in ways that exhaust us - that child is not trying to be difficult.

They are being honest about something that feels to big to hide.

The behaviour is the only language they have available in the moment to ask for what they need.

‘I need you.’
‘See me.’
‘Hear me.’
‘Understand me.’
‘Stay with me.’

The answer is simpler than we think.❤️

We love teachers and we love them LOUDLY
Teachers make all other jobs possible because in order to do something new, someone has to teach you what to do. We are HONORED to work alongside educators in NINE school districts across FIVE states for ONGOING professional development and consultation! We support the little learners (students) by supporting the big learners (teachers). Reach out today for the 2026-2027 school year before our availability is full

For decades, educators have been told to focus on students, their outcomes, their needs, their success. Of course this is all important, but somewhere along the way, we forgot about the people making it all happen. The educators.🔥

We burned them out. We ignored their nervous systems. We asked them to be everything to everyone while their own tanks ran empty. And now we're shocked that classrooms are dysregulated?

You can't have regulated students without regulated teachers. Educator burnout isn't a personal failure. This is a systemic one. We built a system that prioritizes student outcomes over educator wellbeing. And it doesn't work.

The Regulated Classroom© is different. It starts with YOU. It says: Your nervous system matters. Your regulation matters. Your wellbeing is the foundation for everything else. When teachers are regulated, students co-regulate. When educators are supported, school culture shifts.

Ready for a different approach?

Children grow into the stories adults hold about them. The question isn’t what do we see when we look at a child. The question is how far forward are we willing to look.

The ceiling someone else carries for them - the belief in what they’re capable of - becomes part of the architecture of who they become.

This isn’t about ignoring the struggle. It’s about seeing the struggle clearly, holding it lovingly, and refusing to let it be the final word.

It’s about holding both - the truth of where a child is, and the unwavering certainty of where they’re going.

That combination - seen fully, believed in completely - is transformative.

Every child deserves this.❤️

The question isn’t why does this child need to control everything. The question is who taught them - without meaning to - that no one else would.

A child who manages every adult in the room isn’t powerful. They’re exhausted. Doing a job that was never theirs to do, with resources that were never built for it.

The most loving thing an adult can do is take that job back. Not harshly. Not as punishment. Just warmly, firmly, and with the quiet certainty of someone who is actually in charge.

That certainty is not control. It’s relief, for everyone - especially the child.
