A note from Isaiah:
Over the past two and a half years that Courage Counseling has existed, access to mental health treatment has improved in our community so much.
Great therapists are offering counseling in private practices all over the city. Community agencies and non-profits like HARTT and Capstone are providing a broad range of services, even to those who are uninsured and unable to pay for counseling. Substance use recovery programs, both big and small, are helping people get back on their feet and live whole, beautiful lives. With all of this in mind, I have been doing a lot of thinking and praying about what my contribution to our growing mental health community should be.
My reflection and prayer lead me back to my core counseling and ministry value: you must address the whole person> mind, body, and spirt. I want to see my clients thrive mentally, physically, and spiritually.
As of today, the name of my counseling practice is Courage Christian Counseling.
This renaming IS NOT a statement about offering a new kind of counseling. If you are my client or have been, you know my value for mind, body, spirit treatment already.
This renaming IS NOT a statement about who I am or am not willing to work with. Please bring all your questions, all your differing beliefs, and all your doubts into my office. There is lots of space and lots of grace here.
This IS a statement about my values as a helper and the kind of work I do with my clients. I bring my counseling training, my pastoral training, and my love for and faith in Christ to the table. If this is what you or someone you love is looking for, Courage Counseling may be a good fit.
If you have made it to the end of this post, thank you. I am excited about this new season for Courage, both for myself and for the clients I serve. Let me know if you have any questions or need help.
Take courage,
Isaiah Martin ALC
